My 40 has been relegated to the back yard for parking so I cleaned off the pad where the pool was, parked the 40 and ordered a cover from CCOT. It arrived yesterday and covers nicely, even the mirrors. It may even cover the bull bar if I remove the jack.

I am happy with the cover.

I reinstalled the window channel that I re-felted with the soft side of velcro. It was kind of a PITA, but I think it will work until one day when I get enough $ to buy new oem window channels.

Installed the packing weatherstrip pieces to the front doors.

Replaced the old window cranks with some matching ones with the little silver piece in the middle. Anyone in need of some used window cranks?

Lastly went up in the hills with my family. It was short but we had a blast.

Resurrection update: removed bad gas - what a smelly, tarry mess! Shoulda just removed the drain plug, but unwisely chose first to siphon gas out. Ruined my siphon, but got it all out. Upper aspect of tank slight rust, bottom tarry areas. I probably should have removed the tank and used a piece of chain for a good shake, then coated the inside. May still do that at some point, but after I put 5 gallons of fresh gas, it started right up - on a 17 year old Optima (before they moved their plant south o' the border). I've kept it on a battery tender and it reads only 395 CCA out of the original 800 CCA. Will get an Odyssey 34/78 if it gets much worse. Knock on wood, the Sears Platinum (rebadged Odyssey) in the Taco is 12 years old.

I'm stocking up on gas filters, as I expect to go through them for a while. I'm hoping the new gas will dissolve the bad gas residue. We'll see.

I'd say if you have residue still, dump a gallon or two of berrymans B9 or B12 (whichever your state has) and let it sit in the tank then drain with fresh gas...Cleans varnish up nicely.

Paid GA a 1 day list to pick up a new engine for my build. I love the old style valve cover. Hope to have it cleaned up and painted by next week and swap out the old for older... But better.

'66 F135 engine going in to replace a seized '70 F.
