I cut out one section of rust on my truck and patched in a new panel. Still days of work to go before all the rust is gone but it’s a start. I know it’s not stock looking but hey at least I can’t see the road from that area anymore.

Hope you gave him a kiss! @bikersmurf

Not needed. He'd been asking $200 obo for 5 months. Suppose it didn't help that the add listed it as a 20 gal tank. The pump is the smallest I've seen on a Worthington... and it only has a 1.5 hp motor.

Traded the sick SBC with a spun rod bearing (and crank that was chewed). For a two stage industrial compressor with a 80 gal tank. I'll need to source a single phase motor... but it'll be much better than the 4 gal babies I've been using.

Plan is starting to come together. According to seller, NOS 2hp compressor motor for $100. Can either run on 115 or 230 v. Pros or cons to 115 @ 20a circuit?

115 would be the same as my buzz box :D don't have any other 230 v tools.

no real pros vs cons, just lower volts means more amps. the overall difference in VA though is negligible, seeing as both your low voltage and high voltage options are single phase. an equivalent 3 phase motor will use a lot less power overall. what is your capacitor rated at?

to be honest though, im a qualified electrician in a world where we use 230V as our single phase option and 380V as our 3 phase, so, im not 100% familiar with how your systems work with your multiple voltages

Switching to 110v single phase will be the easiest way to get the compressor running. Just change the internal wiring and the plug end and you will be ready to go.

For a two stage compressor I think a 115v 2 horse motor will be a bit under gunned. 5 hp would be better and last longer. 220 uses less amps than 115. More amps more heat. Higher amps and small motor i my opinion is not a good combo.

230v will be cheaper to run on your electric bill. 3 phase would be hugely expensive to have installed either at home or for a commercial building.

No idea on capacitor ratings. Converting from 1.5 hp 3 phase to 2 hp 1 phase. I stepped up to 2 hp for some leeway... having to resize pulley as the new motor is 3450 rpm vs the previous motor was 1750 rpm.

As for 5 hp, this pump is way smaller than the worthington two stage pumps that come with a 5 horse motor. It is only 2 7/8 for the first bore, 1 11/16" for the second bore, by 1 1/4" stroke. Since it was fit with a 1.5 hp motor originally (5a 230v), a 2 hp (8.75a 230v) should be able to do the job... 5 would be overkill.

So I go see Nelson, who charged me quite a sum to install a satellite radio in my wife’s car (Christmas present) thinking he might cut me a deal on rigging me up something simple for my cruiser seeing how as I’d already spent so much... not to mention how much he oohed and ahhed over the 40 when I went to his shop the first time. Well Nelson’s admiration for the 40 and my $$$ in his pocket only went so far.... he had a great plan for my kick a$$ ride (his words) but I decided paying the mortgage and eating might come in handy so......... Here’s what I came up with instead:

No doubt this has been done by others as well (and probably cleaner) but thought I’d toss one more out ;)

Covered up the radio hole with a piece of mend plate from Home Depot covered with black foam left over from one my kids school project..... used Velcro to fix it to the dash!

FWIW.... no 40’s were harmed in the making of this project (well, one hole drilled in the glove compartment)
