After Sampson's return from the body shop I installed the bumpers. Today I finally got to drive him to work!

@Vossie I appreciate the offer but I'll have to pass. I'm too tired to take on another project at this time.

Worked out the questions on the engine mounting, got it in! A bit in wonder it does not look stright to me, allthe bolts are in and close to tight. I would of exspected the block to be centered but maybe it is not supposed to be. It looks like the drivers side rear needs to go over about an inch? Thoughts anyone?

The pics show the rear driver bolt not seated, it is, took a 2x4 and nudged it over and it dropped right in. Still looks a little misallighned?

working on the last piece of body and one i have been dreading: the rear hatch. because the corner was rusted through both sides and had some funky curves and angles but with a big enough hammer and a good grinder we have a good start. i tried to make it from one piece but working with just a hammer and vise, i couldn't pull it off.

Kept tearing into the 283 - wanted the collective's opinions:

1. Found two Pistons with small "chips" in the edge - this is the worst of the two:

Salvageable - or replace?

2. I have 3 rod bearing caps that won't come off the rod. They're completely loose from the knurls and I can pull them to the tops of the studs, but they won't come OFF the studs. The other 5 came off with relative ease...

Any thoughts? Anyone run into this before?

amazing what you can get done with the family out of town and a few days off work. if it was like this all the time, the project would have been done 6 years ago :frown: here is the front side of the hatch. i seriously amazed myself that i pulled it off and it all fit together. there aren't any real curves to say but none of the bends are complete 90 deg either. glad it's done

I finally was able to find the right distributor cap and rotor .I installed it and it now runs great no more hesitation and stumbling when it warms up. I thought I had a carburetor issue. I almost spent a lot of money on a carburetor swap. I believe it will be needed in the future but for now I am happy the new cap and rotor has fix the problem.

I tried to do this over a year ago but I ordered a cap.and rotor for a stock distributor not realizing the PO instead a Mallory duel point. I kept putting off finding the right cap because something bigger always came up.

@steffan wow, great metal work there my friend. Love it! What type of welder is needed for that type of repair if I may ask?

Project moves to fitting, I have been attaching all parts temporarily because I am making so many changes, last night after the mounts I worked on putting the manafold, pipes and for fun the injection body. The fit looks great except the front brake line coupler mount, thats too close to the pipes, I will move that and remake the brake line.
