Thanks! The quality of that machine is very much like Toyota stuff. It was tough saving up for that tractor but I use the heck out of it and it will likely be running strong longer than me! Some of my friends give me grief because it always stays inside and I keep it washed and waxed. It cost me more than any of my Cruisers, can't afford not too!

Ive got a B series that i named right hand. The perfect size for our 6 acres, im on it usually daily.

Took possession of my first 40.

It was also only the second time i had seen a 40 in person...and the first time I've ever driven one.

Took the doors off...

And finally tucked her in for the day.

Needless to say, I'm smitten. I've already put about 250 miles on it within the first two days of ownership. There is a lot for me to learn but it's a blast.

Bead blasted and sanded a lot of bits and pieces, wiped down with lacquer thinner and shot a nice coat of 2K primer. My bud is coming over Tuesday to do the new type water/glass bead strip of the body and panels. He does antique cars with great success. That means wiping, prepping and 2K primer next week. Will follow up with a base/clear coat in the original 309 color.

Tore apart the knuckles, wasn't to bad. Even though the left knuckle had 1 thick and 2 thin shims on top and one thick shim on the bottom.

Found out why It was missing a stud, need another hub. Gotta love it!

One of the POs replaced the bearings and neglected to smooth up the sharp edge on the spindles, both new seals were cut.

Had to get a pic of these cool old shackles.

Those knuckles are one messy job! I was amazed at the amount of grease that came out and went back in when I rebuilt mine for the first time. Also I was wondering about the thought process of only painting the areas where the body panels join together? Are you going to paint everything as a whole?

Yes sir, we were first set on painting it ourselves in pieces. But after painting all the small stuff like the hinges and ect. decided to let someone with a dust free shop do it. At the same time we want to do as much as we can to save money, that's why all the adjoining edges are all painted. They will be painting it as a unit.

Nice job Nolan, with that much work you want to have a nicer end result, and that how you get sucked deeper in the hole.:bang::hillbilly:

Think I best just carefully tippy toe around the edge of that rabbit hole...

Those jump seats look great! What paint did you use on the frames and trim?

DuPont Spectramaster LM154 Chromabase with the clear coat being Spraymax 2k Glamour

I got the color from a guy named @destin who restored an awesome FST. It really is the best match to the original pewter/gray.

Fenders painted. Everything came out pretty sweet with my harbor freight paint booth. Very little trash. Nothing a little wet sand and cut and buff won't take care of. I'm getting a bit better at laying down the color. This build has been so much fun, and sometimes I want to scream! Today is a good day!!!!

View attachment 1492438 Had a great day today. Got to teach my grandson how to drive a stick. He will never forget the thrill of driving the Redneck 40. He did great.

I get to see my grandson a few times of the year and I try to make each one a special event. One year I taught him how to shoot pistols and last year I taught him how to drive the 40. This year I took him out for a drive and then we spent the next day with local club on the Uwharrie trails.

Notice, when I was first staring to teach him to drive, he found the phone holder immediately.
