Could you post a link to the battery tray?

I used this for my group 31. However, I'm switching up my batteries due to there being zero room elsewhere for the power steering reservoir to be mounted securely. So ordered another universal mount, going to try a group 35 on the passenger side and move the group 31 with the universal tray over to the driver's side. Then I'll re-wire the group 35 on the passenger side as my main/starter battery and the 31 as my auxiliary.

I'll do a write up of the changes when it's all done.

That's what I'm running. 31 main, 35 2nd...

...but what made you decide to rewire and start from the 35/passenger? Charging issue? Or...?

My behemoth group 31 has 20hr amp rating of 105ah whereas the group 35 I'm buying is only 65ah. My stock 27F is getting old and needs replaced anyways. I'd like to keep that 105ah as my aux as it's been suiting me well, capacity wise, for camping. This way the smaller battery can be used only for starting and winching (when the batteries aren't linked). Plus, I can have the smaller battery by the power steering reservoir so it can be mounted properly instead of wedged in there like it was before with the group 31 over there.

I went a slightly different route than @TonyP. The HID ballast cover, air box and power steering all get in the way so I got the smaller tray:

I’m going to be using a 24M sized battery, probably this:

SLI24MDP - Duracell Ultra Dual Purpose (Starting/Cycling) Battery for Deep Cycle BCI Group 24M Marine and Boat at Batteries Plus Bulbs

Or this:

SLI24MAGMDC - Duracell Ultra Platinum AGM Deep Cycle Battery for Deep Cycle BCI Group 24M Marine and Boat at Batteries Plus Bulbs

Most of my camping is now done with a travel trailer, so my extra power needs aren’t that large.

Looks like the ladder stick up about 2" past the top of the hatch so looking at your pic it may be very tight.

Yeah I'm using the 2nd hole from the front on the plates so I may need to shift the rack forward at least one

I'm sure that played a role. I'm thinking mostly the two trips to Moab. The reddish tint is definitely Moab dust. My cabin filter was full of the stuff too.
So it seems obvious that you are replacing vs washing al a TRD filter. Any reason for not using a washable filter? I recently went that route but wondered if the juice was worth the squeeze?

As much as I love this thread, I'm torn on it.

Because so many times, I see something cool here, that I can't find at a future point. This endless thread format makes it hard to search and find relevant discussions.

But then again, it's a quick and dirty post, which makes us share more things than we otherwise would have.

Installed some Spidertrax spacers. Also I’m no fabricator but I took @TonyP idea and installed a universal battery tray for my dual battery setup. I will be running a Group 24M.

I really like the stance the Spidertrax spacers give your cruiser.
What size tires and lift are you running? Stock wheels?
Can you post a few pics from the side?
Any issues with rubbing?

Thanks

Thanks. Mine seems closer to the rear, but from your photo I'm wondering if it might barely clear. I wonder if there's someone I could buy the Gobi from and return it if it doesn't fit.

Gobi ladder works with my Gamiviti rack. You can always adjust the rack if there is an issue

Correction. I went and looked and it does hit the rack when opened fully. I could adjust it but since the hatch is fully open I am not caring at the moment and will leave it alone

275/70/18 Falken Wildpeak, stock wheels, Tough Dog 2” lift. Don’t have any additional pics right now. It rubs at full lock but I have a TJM bumper waiting to go on which should fix that.
