I used 5 or 6 dog pooh bags to cover some of the larger wiring harnesses and the two fuse blocks from dual batt, disconnected negative battery terminal, and sprayed with basic degreaser like simple green until the hand hurt. Let sit for a min and rinse off. No need for high pressure or even lots of water, rinses off easily.

Mmmm...simple green. Love that stuff

I wash my engine every time I wash my cars. I never cover anything. Just be careful where you're spraying, don't use a lot of pressure. My favorite cleaner for engines/underhood is P21S Auto Wash, I buy it on Amazon. It is citrus-based, so it smells nice and leaves no residue, cuts through grease and road grime really well without causing any corrosion on the aluminum parts like valve covers and stuff. I spray it on liberally, let it sit for awhile, then use a stiff sash paintbrush to gently scrub into any gunk that doesn't dissolve right away. Then a gentle hose spray off. I like to take compressed air regulated down to about 40 psi to blow off most of the water stuck in crevices, then finish drying with a microfiber towel.

I've never had anything get wet that wasn't supposed to, or had an electrical issue.

I've accidentally left countless items in the engine bay. I recently found a 12MM box end in one of the BMWs engine bay that I haven't popped the hood on since last fall.

I have done this too many times to count. I have MANY 10, 12 and 14mm wrenches. Just keep buying and finding them later. Found one in the frame of my old 40 after 6 months. Can't have too many tools.. EVER.

View attachment 1470492 View attachment 1470493 I like the Tundra wheels I put on but never got comfortable with the shininess. No reason to get rid of perfectly good wheels, so I plastic-dipped them to see if I like them in "tungsten black."

I love them like this, and I plan to leave the center caps off too. I'm about to pull off the side trim/molding with the chrome and paint that as well.

I think once the plasti-dip (really it's rustoleum brand-same thing) wears off I will get the wheels powder coated the same color.

This picture is just the first coat. Liking it so far!

Same wheels I have, I powder coated them and put the TRD Caps on. I still have the toyota caps your sporting. They are yours if you want them

I've had my 200 a week now and just starting to clean up a few things. First up was a front grill makeover. PO had installed black mesh grill but it was piano black, a bit shiny for me.

Pulled the grill, broke some cheap plastic tabs so had to epoxy those.

Degreased and cleaned the grill for paint then rattled canned it:

Installed the TOYOTA emblem with the zip tie method (thanks for the hints guys)

Dog approved.

Holding off on installing grill on truck since I need to work on the headlights tomorrow.

I have a new to me 2011 LX that came with chromed wheels. A little patience and stumbled on a nice set of 2014 rims. Looks much better

The PO must have had very acidic hands. The finish on the burlwood steering wheel had disolved and was unsightly.

I covered with a xuji cover I got off amazon. Thanks to @-uhuru- for the tips. Still need to better tuck a few spoke areas, but other than the painful install, much better than before.

The new refreshed BP-51s came today... anything manufactured after April 27 will have the most recent updates. ARB has been awesome through this whole process. Very satisfied with their customer service.

Are they reimbursing you for the shop time?
