New power steering reservoir and lines showed up today. For anyone who purchases this line set from Rock Auto, the vacuum valve DOES come with it… despite 6 photos and a note showing/saying that it doesn’t… so I bought it separate… and now have to pay return shipping… oof

I had the exact same experience when I ordered new lines last month... even doing the pre-paid return label through rockauto it was less than $5 shipping with the USPS option

I haven’t set up shipping yet, and I assumed it wouldn’t cost much at all, but the principle of the matter remains. It should be their cost to return as it really is a website error, more than an erroneous purchase. My complaining is done though lol. Really just trying to save some folks time and money with my experience.

Edit: @jaewastooshort outside of following @2001LC well put together walkthrough, any tips for replacing or “ah ha’s” you came across?

Wish I could say I was done... I could not get the nut disconnected at the rack on one of the lines (just completely rounded off, was seized with rust), and my rack was leaking anyway so decided to just go ahead and do the rack replacement as well rather than keep fighting that rusted and stripped fitting (can see it still attached on the old rack in the pic below after I finally got the rack out)... only to have exactly the same issue with the steering shaft being seized to the rack at the rack input shaft. Took me a week to get that universal joint off the splined shaft so I could actually get the rack out. Just got the new rack in last night and am still working on reassembly.

So, I guess all I can offer is "use PB blaster to soak every threaded joint and don't be afraid to use heat as necessary". Otherwise, everything related to changing my pump, reservoir, and lines has been really straight-forward.

I’m from Michigan, my two best friends are PB and a torch 😂

Been a big week!

Started with a new front right wheel bearing.

Then new tires - 275/70R18 KO3s that were used but pretty much new from a shop. These are sized up from the 275/65R18 Michelin LTX AT2s I’ve had three last few years.

Then added some sound deadening mat left over from a previous project and wired a 6.5” Bazooka tube in parallel with the Kicker one I have in the OEM location. Put the wires in a Deutsch connector to make it easy to move/remove later.

My good friend's son 3D printed me a couple of wider cup holders for my 100s as part of a school project (thanks, Gabe!). I started with my "city mouse" 100. On one side I cut a section of closed-cell foam to make a tight fit for my Yeti bottle. On the other side I wanted to keep a large foam cup from moving, so I added a Toyota OEM insert from the FJ Cruiser (part listed below). Perfection!

I've just been to visit mine at the lads who are doing the welding... Expanded foam in the rear quarter has all been removed before the whole thing set on fire and all the pop rivetted panels have been removed and replaced with actual metal.
It's had new inner, middle and outer sills (rocker panels) the rear quarters unbodged and all the fibre glass that they can find ripped out and replaced with actual metal. Body work next week to make her pretty again and a repaint of the front and rear bumpers will see my wallet empty 🤣🤣 before she goes for an inspection.

Fingers crossed it's all done for this year 😉

You've engaged in quite a commitment to this truck. I'm certain it will repay you with smiles and capability.:beer::beer:
