Yeah, the problem is that the Merc has 2 too many doors ;) Needs to be the W123 280CE!

Sidenote: are you SAS'd or still IFS...looks tall.

Yeah, the gas ones are even more rare than the CD's - My Dad had one when I was in high school. When I had my learner's permit, he let me drive it most of the way to Fort Smith, Montana for a fly fishing trip/16th birthday present on the Bighorn. He had me spread his ashes at the Cemetery there in Tincup when he passed.

Did a little internal frame cleaning and rust prevention using a Clog Hog pressure washer attachment and Eastwood frame coating.

Far less rust than I expected.

Followed up with these Tees, saw some weeping earlier this week, didn’t think much of it. Glad I decided to get to them sooner rather than later. Part number is there if anyone need a quick reference. I think the next go around, I might try brass, or some type of thin walled galvanized fittings.

Hey all,

Im kind of running around in circles in regards to shocks and researching. My rig is 100% mall crawler with occasional fire roads. I just ordered 285/70/17's and my suspension is need of replacing due to age. For a 1.5-2" lift, would new OEM shocks and torsion bars crank w/ OME 2866 springs suffice?

Yeah it'll be perfectly fine. That's what I'm running but with Ironman medium springs instead of OME. I've got drawers with gear/tools and a rear bumper with swingouts. The ride is great IMO (especially for the price of the shocks) although I have not been in other 100's to compare to.

I followed the FSM to a T minus the fish scale method to set the preload. The lock washers are also new with all the tabs either bent forward/backwards over the adjusting nuts. Should I remove the drivers side assembly and re-torque everything?
If you didn't use the FSM procedure to set preload, then how did you set it?

I just went to 15 ft-lbs on the adjusting nut after "setting the bearing" based on reading through the wheel bearing replacement thread. I'll be back in there this weekend with a fish scale to get the proper pre-load cause I'm starting to think 15 ft-lbs isn't enough.
