Different sized tires? Most all wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicles this will cause quite a bit of damage. Am I missing something in the landcruiser that it can handle this?
You will not damage the drivetrain using different sized tires. That's what differentials are for, to allow different rotation for each tire. When the diffs are locked theoretically you could damage the drivetrain. However, you typically only use the lockers when offroading and not excessive turning. Plus our trannys are built well.

They do allow for different rotation of each tire, but only for a short period of time(I.E. when turning). In your case it will be your center differential doing the slipping, but constant slippage will result in a loss of power and increase of heat which can cause unneccessary wear and failure. This is the same reason having two different sized tires on the same axle is bad.

Yeah. I think if @spear2 is definitely going to do this he should take along a infrared temp gun and take some readings as an experiment. That would be super interesting.hit some trails. Report back. Please.
