Last ~10 days or so:

- removed running boards
- removed sunroof dome and spoiler thing
- pulled flares yesterday, going to get the glue off tomorrow evening and detail it this weekend

I am good at searching, but is there a go-to thread about removing, painting, and reattaching the emblems? Mine came with the terrible Miami Vice package, and the gold lettering is the last of the exterior that I need to tackle.

No go to thread, it's pretty straight forward.

Plastidip is your friend for the emblems on the back. mask off the general area, spray it on, peel off the area around the badges with a tooth pick. the step between the badge and the body will be the area that naturally tears.

The front comes off with a couple screws, paint it however you'd like

Had to put a new Marine Corps sticker on, I think it added like 10hp

I replaced my rear gold emblems with the newer-style nameplate. Details in this post: What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

You can get different colors of nameplate too. I chose black.

Thanks, @somebodyelse . And, you too @Ayune. I'll be sure and follow up on what I decide.

But, this thing is an '00, and the crap surrounding the rear lettering looks pretty advanced.

Had a chance to install my knock-off snorkle! I started off pretty good

Oops! The saw jumped while cutting the big hole...

Oh no! the rivet gun hit the paint and I had to cover it up

Good thing the snorkle covers it all up!!

Came out pretty good considering all the mistakes. I'll know exactly what to do next time!

I installed @LandCruiserPhil's Aux AC fan kit. There are a few more things I need to get done before we leave for our trip on Sunday.

AUX fan installed

Switch installed

Note: that last blank spot will be for extra flood and spot lights I plan to install before Sunday

And here is a quick video for people wondering how loud it is.

Very clean install on the switch. I run my fan all day long with these temps. I wired my switch hot always and let it run when Im stopped to keep the heat soak down and quick cool AC output. Uses about the same power as a fridge.

get to install this sucker....brake failure made it to 199k miles, I hope it won't happen anytime soon again

This post is about what I didn’t do to my truck this week.

I planned to install @LandCruiserPhil’s “electric condenser fan kit” before leaving for a trip this weekend. Because USPS does some crazy stuff sometimes, it arrived a few hours after I left.

Hit 95 degrees today, and while parked in the heat (truck running, eating a quick lunch) I got to experience what it was like WITHOUT the electric condenser fan. Why did Toyota stop including this fan? Why?! I started driving around just to get the AC to cool down.

I wish I had been able to install the kit before we left. Anyway, it’s at home waiting for me. I plan to install it before we leave for our next trip next Saturday.

See thread for more info on the electric condenser fan:
How to get peak AC performance from your 2003+ 100 series
Keep us posted on your install of that fan (may add it to mine eventually)– there's some reason they stopped putting them on but can't remember now. Still liking those new tires?

It's installed. Look 3-4 posts up... :) I installed it just in time for the hot & humid heat wave we've been having in the Northeast. I'm really glad I have it installed.

The tires are running great! I've done a few mild trails and mud in them without issue. This coming week I will be doing a lot of beach sand and beach trail driving. I will report back after that.

Thanks! I got a hollow punch tool set just for the switch blank/cover. I wanted it to look decent. The 1-inch punch plus a file to widen the sides a bit worked great. I figure the tool set would be a decent investment since it can also be used on leather and gaskets.

I've been bouncing back and forth between leaving it running all the time and flipping it on whenever I'm stopped.

Does it increase the travel of the suspension with the new sway bar links?

It allows for a little more downtravel/droop. I just installed the same from @reevesci and it made a difference. Not massive, but every 10mm more matters on downtravel.

Great idea on the punch and I have a set and never thought of that option, thanks for posting it.
