What have you done to your 100 Series this week? (41 Viewers)

Bit the bullet and took my 2007 100 series to Stevinson Toyota west to have the AHC system drained and refilled and have the heater Ts replaced, as preventative maintenance on the truck that has 117K miles on it.

Should have known I was in trouble when they said "you are having the AC system drained and refilled?". Had to explain what I wanted and then they said the AHC fluid was $200. I was about to leave when they realized what I wanted and the fluid was quoted at $29.

I also could not get them to understand that I wanted to replace the heater Ts as preventative maintenance. They kept calling them a valve.
Finally took the tech to the truck and showed him the parts and then asked that they keep the old ones if they are not disintegrated for me to have a spare for the field.

Picked up the truck this AM and it was $500 for both of these jobs. They also did not save the old T's. Scary when the dealer does not really know the procedures I requested? Isnt that why I am supposed to feel confident about paying the high cost of service.

Anyway, my independent garage that has usually worked on the truck did not know how to service the AHC, so hopefully this bought me a few more years of trouble free use.

Any other place in Denver that you can recommend? Slee added a bumper and lights, but did not want to mess with the AHC, other than to remove it.

Best,

Todd
Ive heard good things about toyexus there on south broadway

Went with the eBay $199.99 steering wheel. Figured I'd capture the ol girl in her natural habitat.....with the gas light on. Took about 45 minutes last night.

How well do the colors match in person? Also what part of the Springs do you live in? Let's wheel!
The leather colors match nearly perfectly. I think it only appears slightly different due to the perforation of the leather on the actual wheel where it's solid on the airbag. The wood grain is slightly darker than the stuff in my interior but not by much. Maybe sun fading....i just love the fresh wheel as opposed to the garbage I had in there.

I wish I still lived in the springs...id definitely be down. Currently in Georgia but you just reminded me to update my location. Jealous you are out in the mountains.

I had the VAIS MML USB device installed. Now I can play any source available on my iPhone though the audio system. So far everything works just fine. I'd really like to follow jerryb's lead and convert my NAV equipped to a non-Nav set up so a modern audio system could be installed, but I'm not quite ready to spend that amount as I would need someone to do all the work on this for me. I'm hoping the VAIS system keeps me happy for a while....

Do you have a link for it?

Nice attention to detail.

Did you go with the tiger shark? Cable or synthetic? Thoughts on quality?

Clean install on both the winch and drawers.

Thanks! Yeah, I went with the Tiger Shark 9500 with the synthetic line. I pulled the winch apart to clock it by removing the gear side off the drum (learned that that's not how you clock it), and figured it gave me an opportunity to ckeck out the internals. All looked good and had plenty of grease. Put it back together and figured out how to clock it the correct way. Super easy! The only pull I have on it was to spool the line. It pulled my LX up a slight incline easily and quietly, and didn' even get warm. So, I'm going to say the quality is pretty good, and after reading several positive reviews, I think it'l be a great winch for the price.

I was able to get out and take care of the paint today. It's been a few years since its last wax and there was pitch on it in several places. That stuff was hard to get off! I did a clay bar treatment and wax and although it's still covered in scratches and dings, it sure looks shiny again! My next project this weekend is to install a BT45 Bluetooth unit on the stock stereo. Should be an adventure. We're headed to Palm Springs in a week and hope to explore in Joshua Tree a little.

For the transmition, did you use Valvoline Max life “Dex/Merc”?

I have read lots of conflicting info as to which is the correct transmition oil to use that I want to be sure. I already purchased it but was unsure.

I’m not sure I posted anything about transmission fluid but for our 100, I only put Toyota WS tranny fluid. I hope that helps

I use these extra large "re-usable" rubber Zip ties that I got off ebay (Walmart also carries them). I think they are like 14 inches long and about $7 a pair. Edit: picture of the rubber zip ties like the ones I use-
There is a sensor bracket or something near the UCA that I tie off to. Holds no problem, even on some real rough terrain.

Nice idea! My daughter noticed these at Home Depot.
