Bit the bullet and took my 2007 100 series to Stevinson Toyota west to have the AHC system drained and refilled and have the heater Ts replaced, as preventative maintenance on the truck that has 117K miles on it.
Should have known I was in trouble when they said "you are having the AC system drained and refilled?". Had to explain what I wanted and then they said the AHC fluid was $200. I was about to leave when they realized what I wanted and the fluid was quoted at $29.
I also could not get them to understand that I wanted to replace the heater Ts as preventative maintenance. They kept calling them a valve.
Finally took the tech to the truck and showed him the parts and then asked that they keep the old ones if they are not disintegrated for me to have a spare for the field.
Picked up the truck this AM and it was $500 for both of these jobs. They also did not save the old T's. Scary when the dealer does not really know the procedures I requested? Isnt that why I am supposed to feel confident about paying the high cost of service.
Anyway, my independent garage that has usually worked on the truck did not know how to service the AHC, so hopefully this bought me a few more years of trouble free use.
Any other place in Denver that you can recommend? Slee added a bumper and lights, but did not want to mess with the AHC, other than to remove it.
Best,
Todd
