This was one of those days that didn't go so well.
I started on the install of my Slee rear bumper. The bumper (of you want to call it that) was easy to remove. The receiver hitch should have been easy to remove. I don't know if the receiver hitch was factory or if one of the previous owners installed it (and screwed up one of the bolts). I flushed the sand and bs out of the frame rails and then when it was dry I hit the nuts with some PB Blaster. Even so one bolt wouldn't budge and the welds on the captured nut snapped. I ended up sawing it in half (yay SawZall) so I could finish removing the hitch.
I'm going to try to find a metric nut and install the bumper brackets later this week. Hopefully the bumper will still slide in with the front bracket attached.
The PO had installed air bags in the coil springs. That's what the far left connector that is hanging down is for (air). He spent a lot of time down in Mexico. So far I haven't found any secret compartments

i have no idea if the bags still hold air. They look like they are in pretty good shape.
Rather than let the day waste away without accomplishing anything I decided to install the new stereo and speakers. After all, I was able to buy a plug and play amp bypass wiring harness for the head unit and the speakers came with nifty plastic adapters that make the speakers plug and play so that shouldn't take long at all... uh no... there isn't anything plug and play about the wiring harness and the adapters don't fit the bolt pattern in my door (by about an inch). I'll drill new holes to make them work but the point is that I shouldn't have to. If you buy from Crutchfield and select speakers for a 2000 TLC they will still supply the POS adapters. What happened to that company? I've been buying from them online since 1995 and well before that when they were just a catalog based company... they used to be reliable. I can get this kind of junk from Walmart.
Tomorrow I'll probably install the OME rear springs and shocks. Surely that won't turn into a cluster?
Once the rear lift and shocks are in I'll turn the LC around and start on the front. Monday I'll have the spare tire replaced and get one of the front tires (KO2's) fixed. It has a slow leak. Hopefully I'll be able to find a metric nut to slip into the frame for the bumper bracket and get that installed this coming week. It will be nice to have the bumper installed and the spare up on the carrier.
Projects for the upcoming week:
Once the lift, diff drop, UCA's, and shocks are on I'll start on a major electrical job. I'm going to run #2 wire to the rear area from the #2 battery and connect it to a Blue Sea fused distribution block. I want to upgrade all of the aux wire sockets (cigarette lighter plugs) wiring to a fused, always on, auto power off if the battery gets low circuit rather then the crappy source power they are on now.
I need to finish the dual battery setup, including the wiring between the battery's, the relay, and whatever I'm forgetting about. The battery monitor system is part of that. I haven't decided where I want to put the indicator.
I decided to install the switches and solenoids for the air lockers now. I'll plug the solenoid ports so no trash gets in them. Lockers are on my mind but the front bumper and winch are ahead of them.
I need to install my HF and VHF/UHF Ham rigs (not sure where the heads for those will go) and antennas.
I need to run the "nifty plug and get pissed harness" that I got from Crutchfield to the amp area, install speakers, and finish the stereo install. I really hope the speaker wiring is still good. The electrical projects will require me to pull my passenger front seat and rear seat so I want to be sure to get everything done while they are out.
I wonder if I'll ever get to drive it?
Looking at my lawn... if I don't get on my mower soon it's going to be bad... so that might change my timeline up a bit.
