I can not seem to find a recent thread on what gear oil and ATF fellow 80 series owners are running in the recent years. Thanks in advance for everyone's suggestions.

Whatever I can get at auto-zone.
Valvoline Multi vehicle ATF DEX III or IV equivalent.
And Valvoline gear oil for diffs and transfer case. Two different viscosity ranges based on FSM.

Yea, I stopped playing that game 20 years ago. 75W90 for all.

When I changed all the fluids last fall I was starting to question the sanity of the different (yet overlapping) viscosity call out. Thank you for the tip, I'll update my book.

They're both 90 weight at operating temperature. The 75/80 is cold viscosity.
I'm not one to doubt Toyota engineering, but 30 years is a long time in the lubrication industry.

I use Redline for the trans, diff, and transfer case

Amsoil is really good stuff in my opinion and what I ran in the VW transaxles I used to operate. For the my 80 it's the house-brand/cheapest at Oreilly's just down the street.

I got a DEF container filled with 75W-90 from a barrel from one of my diesel mechanic friends... For the trans Supertech dexron

1. Some oil is better than no oil...

2. New oil is better than old...

3. Gear oil in a bag or pouch way better than a jug...

Don’t over think it. And I highly recommend the 3rd. Life changing.
