Friday night I was able to spend a couple hours on the 40 after everyone went to sleep. Having my garage under the house is a love hate thing. But hey I’m not complaining. It’s air conditioned.

Got the engine and trans mated, bolted in the chassis and cleaned up my mess a little.

It feels like a huge step, mostly because I’ll have 40% more room in my garage without the engine stand, hoist and parts laying around.

Today I got around and started putting the new radiator in wifeys Sequioa. Installed the new headlights I’ve had for a while and detailed it out.

Then proceeded to spend the afternoon in the pool with the family.

We shall see what tomorrow brings other than mowing the yard.

30 minutes here. Hopefully 30 minutes there.

New knock sensors, harness, intake gaskets. Intake bolted down. Throttle cable installed.

Thanks @SipLife for the throttle cable link in your thread. Quite possibly the easiest install of this whole swap. Literally bolted in and cut off the excess length.

Simple reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things.

Like dinner with your family

And touching a Cyber Truck

I had an amazing day with my daughter. Took her along on a small consulting gig. Went and got lunch then went to the shoe store to find her some new kicks. She’s my best friend.
These truly are the important things.

This week has been a kick in the dick. Like a Justin Tucker (thanks google) kick in the dick.

Tonight was much needed.

I’m pumped you were able to take her and have a day with her. Those are my favorite

Time to transition back to 40 mode. I’ve been in vacation prep as we ran to the beach for the 4th. It was great to sit and watch the family play while I had the breeze in my face. Plenty of time to remember the little things.

I drive 99.99% of the time anytime we go anywhere, and we travel big chunks at night. So alot of quiet thinking time for dad.

I’m going to change directions on my fuel tank. I’m going to pivot to an intake pump in the factory tank. For the simple reason of time. Plus the ability to axle relocate when I go to 62 axles.

I can always add an aux tank later for range.

I’m hours away from a driving 40, my goal is to chip away 30 minutes a day for the next while.

Back to 35-10.5 life for now. This wheel tire combo will be for sale at some point as I have another direction in mind. But not in any rush.

Oh and I picked up a steal of a CCOT bumper on the trip.

I’ve been super happy with the Tahoe in tank pump that @reddingcruiser outlined in his swap. Fits nicely and hasn’t caused a single headache-knock on wood. This is good as my passenger seat mounts are kind of a pain.

Re reading your swap is one of the deciding factors to go the same route.

I ordered the weld in ring last night. Now to ventilate the tank for the next week.

In tank set up is where its at! Good choice! Use an fzj80 or 2uz fuel pump. Very quiet compared to walbro

When I was building BBQ smokers years ago, we would fill them with soapy water before cutting or welding…these were old 100-250 gallon propane tanks. Never had an issue …. If that helps, so be it

Inerting tanks properly is worth the trouble. My dad welded dozens of airplane and truck gas tanks. Once one of them wrapped itself around the rafter in the hanger - I think he had to come home for clean pants that time.

Mine has been venting for about 2 months outside.

Planning to stick a fan in it for a few days and let it vent even more before I start. Maybe drop a match in it first 😂

I would throw in a bunch of dry ice, and put my hand over ports and lightly pressurize the tank about 10 times. I would want there to still be some dry ice in there sublimating while I was welding or otherwise making sparks.

Sort of like charging a capacitor - after like 6 time constants its charged about as much as it can practically

It has only taken all week but I got my final ECM mount bracket built and attached. ECM is fully installed finally.

On to the next step.

At least I did manage to get a drive shaft to the driveline shop and get it modified. I wanted to do one and make sure it fit both ends before I had them do all 3. Forgot to go pick it up before end of day yesterday, so it’ll have to wait until Monday.

Something I Ran into this week.. my slave cylinder rod is about 1” too long. I’m wondering if I used the wrong pivot fork or the wrong throw out bearing..

@cruisermatt any input?

Also I ordered one of the oil pressure adapters from Matt this week. Looking forward to that simple install.

I’m using the OEM fork that was in my 4 speed with the advance adapter throw out bearing which was very similar to the one I took out of the rig.
