What did you do with your truck this week? (4 Viewers)

Rick. I understand your case. With the missing / damaged seal dirt killed the new bearings.

However with Dans truck if the bearings are tight and the seals are still there ( he hast seen the trail service of Dig Doug yet) then there isn't much "servicing" to do.

No more red spindles?

I see your point. Wait until the bearings go before worrying about the seals...makes sense.

I forgot my red paint, will correct when I go back to put the new seal in. Had to put something on it since I had already blasted it.

I'm a "one and done" sort of person. What symptoms are there for a bearing being out?

jack wheel off ground and rock back and forth like you would to check a loose/worn-out tie rod. As you move the wheel back and forth, keep your eye on the outer CV boot. If the bearing is bad you will see side to side motion in the boot. Also, typically makes a low grinding noise that you can feel through the floorboard.

Washed the 40. I hadn't kicked the tires and lit the fires in some time. No mice.....yeah baby.
Re-engage the cranking battery.
Nice to hear the electric fuel pump buzz.
Pumped the clutch and brake a bit. OK.
We got ignition....and blast off.
Drove old Gundy about 20 miles. Hit 65
on the straights. All is well. He's back at
rest by the cabin. Gawd I love that truck.
I still can't believe I own the thing.
Well, I don't really. It is in Lynn's name
for liability purposes and protection.
Gawd I love Lynn.
:-)

installed a cheapo Advance/Pioneer stereo in the 80..after driving it for 3 months with only Pandora in my ear buds.... routed the XM radio lines and made an aluminum cover plate.. I wish I had had the idea before I removed the plastic flange... but I got it to attach fine for now...I will probably install some charging ports and make the power connection cleaner/more permanent...

pics later..

installed the slee aux light wiring harness in the 80, and re installed the Hella Rallye 1000 lights that came on the 80, to find out both bulbs are blown out... $21 and 3 days to go, they should be working..

installed the slee throttle control cable.. it is a tight fit and causes my idle to be around 2k... I need to tinker with it some more...

installing the LandTank seat slider extension tomorrow

taking the 81 60 shell to the scrap yard tomorrow...keeping the frame

With everything removed the wire wheel brushing commenced and after that a few coats of primer and a few coats of fresh paint made it all pretty again.

Minor set back after the head of the bolt sheared off, but with a little heat and some pb blaster out it came.

Took the radiator and had it boiled and had two small leaks to be fixed. Gerald's radiator in south Anderson off of 24 fixed it, dropped it off at lunch and picked it up on my way home, been doin it for 43 years. And it looks good after a fresh coat of paint.

Radiator is back in and then it was on to tackle the housing...it was nasty to say the least inside and out.
