Nice 80! I was at the other end of the Rubicon last weekend thinking I had the only 80 up there! LOL
Thanks! There were 3 80's in our group. We had a blast!

Wide angle lens maybe?

Which one is their DUFF......

It does look that way... I guess maybe because the one in the middle has the RTT which makes it look taller, and the one on the right is running 37's... but the 200 really looks like a pig compared to them both.

Totally different beast that's for sure... and i will openly admit this... i still love my 80 more!!

Hit 225K and then rolled right on past it.

Getting ready for the weekend...

Awhile back, @GWNugget loaned me a pair of Doetsch front shocks and has been bugging me to try them out.

Man, these things are loong!

I did a 3 day weekend volunteering for the Forest Service. About 200 miles of hard surface and 276 miles of trails and roads to inventory and post signs. Spent a couple of nights Ina Fire Fighters barracks. 5 80s and 1 Jeep. The Jeep driver constantly complained about how fast we were driving the 80s!

Yeah those bad boys are 17" to 29" I'm really eager to hear what you think of them compared to other shocks you have had.

Little more progress on the rear, got the jerrycans mounted. Next up is to figure out where the hi-lift will fit in here. Then to hinge the tire side and make it fold down. Mayyyyybe a small-medium cooler basket.
This showed up as well, gotta get the bumper done first though.

Happy Saturday! SkateMD clinic for kids is up on deck, then help a buddy finish a motor swap in a bug, then a 10yr anniversary party for Elixer bar in Sacramento, then maybe the governor's cup at sac raceway. Busy day ahead, and going on 4hrs sleep. If we have any old skateboarders on here with big hearts, check out SkateMD. It's a group that puts on skate clinics for special needs kids, and rather awesome. Non profit, 100% for kids.

I woke up to a chilly morning and my son saying "Dad, we should go fishing!" So as we are loading the 80 with our fishing gear I get a notification from Mud that @Delancy commented on his "FAWK Cancer" thread about his daughter's battle with cancer. I've never met Delancy in person or his daughter but they are family. Not just the Mud family but his daughter is part of my cancer family.

So, as I was getting ready to head out to enjoy a few hours of fishing with my 14 year old son (same age as Morgan) I clicked on the link. Admittedly with a little trepidation. I was afraid there might be some bad news as it's been a while since he last posted. But it wasn't bad news at all. I read the post and clicked the link. It was a humble request to help others. And Chris even offering up additional encouragement to help others (in the form of Cruiser goodies). I don't have much but I did what I could.

So, instead of my son and I driving an hour in my 80 to go fishing we are going to fish locally to save a little $ on gas. The fishing won't be as good but it isn't about the fishing, it's about the time together. And that's what the 80 is all about.

Here is the thread, it's over it chit chat so many of you might never see it. Thanks Chris for sharing.

And here is the link for Morgan's fundraising efforts to help others. If you feel so inclined...

  • Registered and insured my 92.
  • Replaced the passenger mirror with a white one I picked up from cruiseryard.
  • Replaced the wiper arms and blades with new OEM.
  • Replaced the gas door spring (I have needed to do this on both my 80's when I first bought them...must be a ritual.
  • Pulled the hood off and put it back on... was trying to get the rear passenger corner of the hood to sit down flush...it sits almost a 1/2" higet than it should...was unsuccessful so far.
