They are stupid bright but have no long range spot pattern (aka major light puke). For speeds under 40mph they work amazing, for higher speeds your near field night vision is destroyed so they are pretty much useless. I paid the same price as advertised on eBay and for the price I am mostly happy, until I am driving at higher speeds on country roads and then I wish I spent more money for something better. by Matt Ewalt, on Flickr
Don't expect ANY of the LED's to give you quality long range illumination. Combine yours w/a set of HID's & you'll light up the night properly. @ this point in time, there is no LED's that can come close to projecting the distance of HID's.

My son is playing in the world series this weekend (started Thursday) so I wasn't planning on getting anything done. Got rained out today so headed home to work on my driver's side window no roll up issue. Got it narrowed down to the switch. Motor operates, albeit not as robust as a new one would be, but it operates. Ordered a new switch from Switch Doctor. Added new driver's window motor to the list.

Took me

FYI - Takes 2-6 months to get SENTRI and requires an in person interview. I've had mine for almost 5 years now and its unfortunately got a lot slower. The regular lanes during a weekday are almost just as fast through San Ysidro. Or just head east to Tecate.

You need a tourist card, get right at the immigration office when you cross south. The military checkpoints don't check for this, but the police do. They will do anything to get money out of you....just the way it is there.

Military checkpoints have been in the same places for the last 20 years and they are always mellow.

BTW -- San Quintin is the meth capital of Baja.

Some good info - thanks - probably will look at Tecate crossing next time - time differential from San Quintin through tijuana through to newport beach is about 40 mins or so shorter (on paper) when compared to crossing the border at Tecate....... whats the 3 like as a freeway from Ensenada to Teacate - a toll road again like the 1?

Speaking of switches, I hacked this together yesterday out of spares. So much for the simplicity of diesels! The little switch controls ST2 and IG2 which includes the glow system. The big switch controls IG1 and ACC. The 2 spare wires will go to a momentary switch which will control ST1, the starter solenoid.

Removed and cleaned up my axle breathers. Junked the old hoses and and got new extended ones on there. All in stock locations. Still work great old n dirty, both axles held vacuum when i pulled off the old lines.

(Still on crutches, leg still hamburger) Got the rear bumper and hitch removed. Hitch hung too low, and bumper was hanging on by best intentions so got them outta there. Gonna call and order a jawbone carrier next week, and make a bumper tying into the rear crossmember in the month or two to come. Few weeks ago my buddy gave me a rooftop basket off an xterra, got that mounted as well. Ordered some led lightbars for it as well and some 1" front spacers to help combat stinkbug. I'll try and flush the power steering this week with hydraulic oil and see if that cures the overheating problem, fingers crossed. Otherwise, I have an extra led lightbar that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. I plan on getting the ARB awning in a month, maybe do a mag mount (buddy's idea) on a disconnect, or alligator clip, something for moveable options, but for this so I can slap it on the roof, under the awning at the campsite if need be. Just tossing ideas around about that for now.

Just gave my old OE bumper to a friend who bought a triple-locked '97 that had been in a front end collision.

Wow, 4 pages of posts just for last weekend... I dig it!

My turn, I finally got to use my LX rather than wrench on it. We made it up to Bald Mountain in the Sierra National Forest above Shaver Lake in California. There is an old fire look out tower there. It was our first family camping trip. It was a AWESOME weekend.

Did you happen to see a white digital camo 80 series up there? That was my co-worker.

No, I was up there Sunday around 2pm.
But I would love to see some pics of this digital 80. Does he have a build thread? I don't want to derail the thread by posting pics here. Whats his mud name?

He's on here, (but can't remember his screen name- he doesn't log on much!)
This isn't a de-rail post as it pertains to his 80 and what he did to it last weekend! Here it is after he installed the front and rear armor. His rig is called "Yeti". More pics soon enough

Me and the boy did steering, full kit from trail gear. Huge improvement as the old ends were shot and the tie rod had a small bend in it. Almost all the little things done, setting up a long weekend axle rebuilds/gears/lockers...

Adopted the 80 a new little brother:

Used 4-minute epoxy to patch pinhole leaks in the top of my radiator on our way to this place. Identified 55 different bird species along the way.

Then drove up into the hills for some trout fishing here. Caught 4 rainbows in 2 evenings.
