Inaugural oil/filter change and air filter - just starting to make her mine!
Pulled out the third row seat, which isn't from a LandCruiser - looks to a third row bench from a Dodge something-or-other. Not sure. Guess I'll eventually be trolling for third row seats, but for now I'm ok with just the second row.
Then broke in the new Porter Cable DA buffer I'd bought and tried to see if I could buff down what was either some severe oxidation or early clearcoat failure on the hood. It's the clear, unfortunately, but never-the-less, the hood looks 100% better after a once over with Megs M105, M83, and Collinite 854. More importantly, it's protected from further weather damage. I hear that Collinite stuff repels hail!
Looking forward to doing the rest of this beast now that I've learned from my initial mistakes with the polisher that had me working harder than I needed to.
BTW, do I need some kind support under me when I get around to detailing the roof? I'm 220 on a light day.
Lastly, I started fiddling with some LED dome lights. I had them in tailgate of the wife's Pilot - she can't stand them in the cabin, but tolerates the tailgate light because the extreme brightness is so useful there. She's also very afraid of brown recluse spiders, and since my truck sat in a barn for a while before I bought it and has had obvious critter inhabitants, she refuses to ride in it till I certify it critter-free. Course, I chuckle at this. Then last night while I'm sitting the driver's seat fiddling with the dome light I glance up with my headlamp to see a big fat orbweaver looking thing right by the visor.
Well, call me a wuss, but I'm not a fan of spiders either, especially when I've been sitting under them without knowing for a few minutes. In my defense, I didn't run screaming, and dispatched him without incident. Then looking around the truck with my headlamp I saw 8-10 strands crisscrossing the interior and over the headliner. It remains to be seen if this little guy acted alone or if he has friends, but I'm taking the spider concern a smidge more seriously today. I mean, even if I didn't see a brown recluse, I probably will be a bit more watchful for another week or two.
And the LED is a big improvement over the incandescent bulbs - ordered a few more on AMZ. Is it normal for incandescent bulbs to be dimmer on the "Door" setting than on "On". I'm guessing there's just voltage drop going through the extra door switch circuit, but curious if that's normal.
