Too much :wrench::wrench: and not enough :steer: lately, so went wheeling! Found some new trails locally:bounce::bounce::D Dragged an LCA mount pretty hard but the lockers pulled her over just fine. Ordered steel for doing the LCA frame mount skid fabrication, gonna try .250" wall 3" box tubing and see how that goes. Got the spare mounted on the roof finally, looks good up there. Got my firestik cut to right length so I can get out better, and ordered a BIOR skid plate.

So, spent some money but what the hey, ya can't take it with you!

Installed some bumper wings and swing arms passed on to me by a local 'Mudder. Nice to get the spare out of the cargo area!

Those are pretty sweet. I like the kick out. Thought they were Hefty at first, but doesn't look like it. Homemade?

I did the front axle rebuild.

Thanks to IH8Mud I was able to do the job in a weekend. Also, I dared to disassemble the Birfields and swap sides. I've read the axle thread so many times that I felt I had done that job many times before.

I also replaced all tie rod and steering joints. They were very sloppy. During the process I found that my steering stabilizer ends were bad too, not to mention the damper was weak. I've got a PM in to Cruiser Dan for a new one.

Installed PFRAN's LED kit - doors and backup lights only since the six Crown and Coke's made doing the overhead lights feel impossible. Should've finished in the morning but took my kids 'exploring' instead.

Changed tranny fluid (at least the 4qts in the pan) and seems to be shifting smoother now. Also changed out my old cracked dash pad for a new-to-me uncracked pad (thanks Adam). Man was that a pain. Had to remove the entire dash to get to the little metal tabs that hold the pad in place. Gave a good chance to clean and lube lots of stuff in the dash and get out 23 years of funk that was back there. Also able to fix a broken dash support near the PS footwell. So she's all nice and tidy now.

Bonus! When I put the dash back together, my "D" indicator light came back on in the instrument cluster. Must have been loose.

Lastly cleaned up the engine bay a little and used some JB weld to fix a little seeping radiator leak I had right at the expansion tube. Didn't know if it was gonna hold, but 150 miles later and no leak!!

Getting ready to do a valve adjustment and try to fix any/all leaks on the right side of the motor.

please excuse crappy iPad photos

Just noticed

After looking at my dash pics above, I just noticed that I installed the radio in a little crooked. I guess I'll have to bust her open again! Dang:doh:

Homemade. Apparently Cody C made them! ( I am the second owner of these after a local 80 owner bought an IPOR. They are bolted to the frame, rear crossmember, and also to the section where the exhaust resonator (was). They are incredibly stout.

Previous owner (Tim) carried around his spare 38" Toyo on it:

Aggie, did you paint the lettering on your X-case shift knob? It looks "bright"/crisp. If you did, can you share how/what you did to it?

Pulled up a smoke tree and two ligustrum shrubs for the wife. Part of her slow, but methodical, plan to remove or replace every shrub/bush/tree/plant that was there when we bought this house four years ago.

Yes, front only for increased articulation. Will be posting percentage of increase soon.

Our test has concluded that rear disconnect will not yield any increase. This is providing the rear sway bar is set up correctly.
