Even though my HDJ81 has a full floating disc rear axle, it came with the small 91-92 front brakes.

A buddy helped me (ok, I was the helper) install Man-a-Fre 30 mm spacers on the front. Not an easy job, but I think I've eliminated the stink bug, so I'm happy.
Not the weekend yet, but i stopped by NPS Industrial before heading home and found a 55mm 6-point axle nut socket for $6. I bet it will be Close Enough when i do front axle service.

Started working on my 8274 clean up, servicing, and rebuild. I am waiting on my lower housing service kit, and new clutch handle from amazon to get here. The fluid started coming out of the upper housing after pulling the motor housing. The fluid did not look good appeared to have had water at some point. The gears looked good though. The aluminum look rough but inside looked pretty good. I will be cleaning it up and then painting it before install into my ARB bumper (which requires cutting).

I feel leaving it vented is better than leaving it attached to a clogged charcoal canister.
I'd prefer to use the canister space in the engine bay than recoup the amount of vapour that is lost.

1. vapor is pollution and destroys ozone......tree hugger blah blah
2. an alternative charcoal canister can be had for around $50.
3. Quite a bit of vapor can get out judging from amount of vapor I had, because of pressure vaporization slowed down. Now you it let flow freely the vaporization rate will be even higher. If you let you rig sit for a while in an enclosed area.........i hope you have good fire insurance.
4. If vapor can get out that means air can get in which equates to moisture. Do you really want condensation to build up in your gas tank?
5. All fuel system has always been designed as a fully enclosed/seal system for a reason......protect you from fire.
Search for charcoal canister on mud for the alternate fix before you start a thread titled my cruiser spontaneously combusted!
Btw did I mention fuel vapor is dangerous?

Had my very first true adventure in the Land Cruiser
I finally feel like I did something worth reporting in this thread!
Over the past 2 weeks I did the head gasket, PHH, new radiator, and a bunch of little stuff. Then I went on a 3 day excursion into the Cascade mountains with my family. This was our first trip in the Land Cruiser and the first time I've done any true off-roading with it. In fact it's the first time I've done any real off-roading or primitive camping in 25 years. I don't know why I went so long. It was fantastic. This was a first for my kids and they loved it. We'll be doing a lot more of this from now on. Wife loved it too.
I'm more excited than ever to own an FZJ80. Cliche' aside, it was obviously made for this stuff. I can't imagine a more suitable vehicle. I give it 5 stars.

Lead five other vehicles (four Jeeps and a 4runner) from our local group, Piedmont Trail Riders (www.facebook.com/groups/127911653981487/) on a ride exploring some Forest Service roads in the Warwoman WMA in northeast Georgia.
Met another 80 series owner/driver on the trail; that's a big deal. I've seen less than a dozen 80s in the nine months that I've owned mine, and this is the first one I've seen off-road.

Took 4 friends beach camping at Freeman Park (Carolina Beach, NC). The Land Cruiser easily held a table, 2 tents, cornhole boards, a massive cooler, 5 fishing poles, a large folding canopy, 4 beach chairs, food, tools, and personal gear. Everyone was impressed on how well it all fit.
I think I fixed my leaking rear pinion seal. I replaced the breather line with 6 foot piece of 1/4" low pressure fuel line. The original filter was gummy and nasty and not flowing any air. I used a lawnmower fuel filter on the end of the new line and ziptied it up to the fuel filler neck. So far no drips.
I got to post more pictures.

Dropped the truck off Friday night for a rear bumper build at Hawk Industries. Should be getting it back tomorrow, anxiously awaiting the results.....
