Mr. jits, Looks good, I've been looking at mine an wanting to do the same. Wish your photography matched your fabrication, I'd like to see better pics:cheers:

Crappy cell phone camera. I'll get some better pics up tomorrow when it's light out.
It wasn't that hard to do. I cut off the bottom lip, boxed in and gusseted the wings and added Comp4x4's weld through clevis mounts. The Clevis mounts are fairly exposed, but they're welded 3/4 of the way around where they stick out of the face of the bumper, and around the entire mount where it attaches to the frame mounts of the ARB. Should be plenty strong for recovery.

Finished product.

Looks good man... I like it, looks like a 60 series bar almost.

Went hunting...unprepared.

Blew a hole through the sidewall of my tire

Spare was flat (sidewall leak from dirt due to all those years under the truck). Of course i forgot the air compressor at home.

Got a ride into town, had a used 285 put on the aluminum rim as a new spare. $25 OTD and an hour total, not bad. Not i gotta buy another good tire.

The previous owner of my 80 had the hood repainted due to clear coat peel in the factory finish. The respray was poor, with considerable orange peel and general blemishes. After staring at it through the windshield long enough, I decided to bust out some sandpaper and refinish the surface.

I began with 2,000 grit wet paper and finished with 3,000. I should have started with 1,500 or even 1,000, but I worked with what I had on hand. "Cheap" projects are the best, you know.

Once I got the surface relatively flat, I buffed it out with 3M compound, then hit it with a 3M glaze and finished with a 3M ultra fine machine polish.

I'm pretty happy with the results.

I know I didn't "do" anything except drive it to that point, but it was exciting to watch the odo turn.

Your "D" light still works, now that's impressive!

I bought another Land Cruiser today!!! Insurance auction sale, '92 HDJ81 VX Ltd, same color as mine! ARB front bumper, snorkel, rear spare tire carrier, receiver hitch, looks like a 2.5-3" lift, center console fridge, window flares, etc. Anything pre-'94 that goes through auction is "irreparable" status, so it's parts only, but it's the parts I wanted anyways. It was rear ended, doesn't look bad enough to write off from the pics, but I guess I'll know more when I get it home.

Discovered during a torrential rainstorm that I had a nice leak somewhere around the sunroof. Found the damn leak and fixed it. Now to dry out the carpet :(.

This weekends projects include installing a new radiator, and these:

Nice IanB, wheels look good too.

Those weren't the wheels that ended up being on it, looks like FJ80's or old 4runner wheels on crap tires. Factory winch is gone as well, looks like the PO lightened the load a bit before handing it over to the insurance company.:meh:

Oh well, it's here now, the springs and shocks look good, ARB has a bit of damage, but the ARB/IPF lights look new, there's some bits I can still scavenge, and then there's always the drivetrain! It makes my truck look new in comparison though, lol.
