yup .. although it will hold it well .. I didn't push that far for so long .. I usually drive withing less 900ºF but it's soo nice to have that much diesel available ..

replaced U-joint
replaced my rear drive shaft u-joint. It is surprisingly easy when you have read the FSM and searched Mud for a few days for information before beginning
I used my bearing press to remove the old joint and gently press in the new one.

once again dealing with these crap nitro gears. i can not say enough negative about these piss poor manufactured pieces of crap. the rear is done, got it finished a month or so ago (takes so long because i have to keep stepping away because the complete failure to machine the pinion to match the bearings makes me want to hunt someone down
), although pretty sure the pinion threads are fawked while trying to do the final tighten (the bearings should not fit sooooo damn tight that you can't tighten the pinion nut down and crush the crush sleeve)
now i'm pretty sure that i'm just going to have to buy a NON POS NITRO front gear set just because of the pinion to bearing mismatch. after realizing that might be my best bet, i just threaded an old nut on and i've been beating the crap out of the pinion with a sledgehammer to see what it would take to get the lower pinion bearing off, while tightening the bearing splitter between whacks. 40 MINUTES LATER, THE POS IS STILL STUCK ON THERE!
i talked to some guys from tnt at yesterdays caravan and they said they have to emory cloth close to half the pinions to get the bearings to set on right. i'm pretty sure the fact that the bearing is such a bitch is why i'm having issues with the front too.
this is no means a bash on justdifferentials, who sold me the crap gears during our group buy, but just a bash on nitro pos gears.

I've set up 4 or 5 nitro gear sets and never had a problem with Any of them. Maybe you got a lemon
originally, i thought maybe i got the wrong install kit or something but both front and rear were welllllllll beyond tight. after speaking to a semi local hardcore shop that does lots of r&p swaps, i'm convinced it's the manufacturer.
i'll just have to go back to yukon and sierra, both of which i've set up with no issues at all.
That's strange... But I've also liked Sierra and Yukon gear, both set up well and are strong
finally got the bearing off. going to give salvaging the pinion a shot, but it's a long one. if not, it's another new gear set, just not nitro.
And zuk has set up tons of them and as far as I know he has never had a single problem with nitros he says he really likes them. At least he did about a year ago the last time I spoke with him. I know the nitros he installed for me went like butter.
Did our annual Cascade Cruisers Christmas tree run. I wish I had taken more pictures, although I was the only 80 out there so I got the pictures that counted.
Looks great. That 60 looks like a lot of fun.
Pike's Peak. Paved roads the whole way up, but still a hell of a view.

A buddy and I took the dogs to the park for a hike, found some snow to park in and snapped a few pics. Roads have been messy, and I've been busy, so the truck's pretty filthy.

I didn't track it as closely as I should have, I was just going by my scangauge average (scangauge is running the adjusted speedometer and is usually pretty close on my fuel consumption)
I did burn more gas when going faster, but not enough for me to slow down, maybe 1 or 2 litres per hundred km. I am not overly concerned about mileage though.

Did you use a large bearing splitter and hydraulic press? I recently regeared my rear diff and the only problem with removing the pinion bearing was due to the bearing splitter not being able to reach in between the pinior gear and the bearing. I ended up using my angle grinder on the bearing splitter. Worked great after that.
I bought the one that Zuk mentions on his website. It's massive and not that cheap, but worth it.
