Valley Tech rear bumper. Ironman front bumper. Excellent condition so far after my 30 minute look over. California rig and Jhoandry has restored a few. Really happy with it so far. I'll start giving it the head-to-toe once over later this evening. It's my 3rd locked 80 so I know them well. I always enjoy digging in on a new one.
That's excellent news. I was a bit worried for you there for a bit. I'm very glad to hear that it's got no obvious issues. I'm going to check out that Valley Tech bumper....it's sweet.

Sanded and painted the fj80’s hood outdoors! Got color matched spray cans and clear coat. It’s not perfect by any means but it’s better than letting all the surface rust grow.

Let me know if you want me to put you in contact with Garrett over there. He lives a couple of hours from me. I've got his sliders on there too. Talked to him just last week, actually. Great guy. Very helpful and easy to work with.

Some bonehead (me) put a gallon jug of water on my rear floor without closing it up, so ~1/2 gallon of water soaked into my carpet. I had to take it up at the edges and run a fan under it for a whole day to finally get it dry, and that was after shop-vaccing it and letting it sit with the doors open for three days.

I hope they do it when I’m not going uphill on that same road. I don’t need one of these folks on my front bumper.
Well a competent rider should also not cross the center line. lol

At least it was just water...and not from a mystery source like a leaky roof bolt or something! Good to get it dry quickly though, I had to get rid of my work truck ('13 Explorer Sport) due to water leaks from the failing seam sealer on the roof...stunk of mold once it soaked unknowingly for a few days under the spare tire and was never right again.... :flush:

You can
What is your cleaning process?
I use electrical contact cleaner to blow out any grim/dust. Sometimes there is little pieces of foam from the plunger stuck in the gears. Or the plunger arm breaks binding everything up. Still need to test drive after work, all the trip tumblers move freely now. Was going to use some dry silicone lube also but decided to see how this works first. Also replaced the backlight bulbs with new led ones.

Do you break down the tumbler? Just curious how fragile the plastic is.

I finally settled with my insurance about my stolen (never found) Collector's Edition....still depressed about losing it. After fighting with them I got almost triple the amount they originally offered. Now the search for a new one...or should I (here comes the blasphemy 😁) get a 100 instead? I've been looking at 2005-2007 ones. There's no rush to this decision either way.
Lessons to be learned:
  • Make sure you check your insurance coverages especially replacement values and comprehensive coverage limits.
  • Don't let them tell you "that's all we can offer"...fight!
  • Put a tracker of some sort on your rig.

If a 100 series, this is the holy grail

A 96 HDJ80 sold on Bring a Trailer this afternoon for $80,500.00. That 100 is chump change.
