Do you recommend a new harmonic balancer w the rebuild?
Yes I consider it a wear item, we have been seeing failure’s recently on the forum. No rhyme or reason just old and they delaminate. It would a catastrophic failure if not caught in time so the $250 is worth the piece of mind I think.

Mine failed with the outer metal ring portion slipping from the rubber. I only noticed it when I had set my motor to TDC the timing mark on the HB was 30 odd degrees off the mark. Took me longer than it should have to figure out what was wrong. Tequila when wrenching can be insightful 🙄

I did the same thing yesterday with the ZF TOYOBD1 tool (93-94 scan gauge style option), but call mine an anxiety reducer since I can now see true temps and it has an overheat alarm...my biggest fear on mine for some reason (oh yeah, maybe that's due to all of the head gasket threads on here!).

Nice!!

I pretty much added mine solely for watching ect's after a run through the mud caused some boiling recently.
Voltage ,and being able to view corrected mph is nice too ( I haven't done this yet but will).

Thanks for the feedback already ordered one!

Ran into the @torfab crew.

Not a 1fz-fe in sight

Alrighty 1fz wizards - question for you. I put my head on last night. New OEM head on new OEM block with a cometic HG and OEM studs. All installed following the sequence, except my garage hand told me 39 FT LB instead of Nm, followed by the two 90* turns. Should have been 29 ft lb. So, all were a bit over torqued to begin with.
This morning I put a torque wrench to them working up in 5lb increments. all were solid to 70, except bolt 2 and 10 in sequence. 10 snugged to 70 and held. 2 turned an additional 45* and was still not holding.
SO now I'm racking my head on do I
- replace the bolt
-leave it alone
-See if it snugs, but I'm concerned i've gone past the yield point and it needs to be replaced.
-pull all of them and replace.

this shows bolt 2, past its full 180* sequence. Applying a torque wrench at 70 ft lb and it spun here, didn't meet torque and I stopped.

More prep for a busy summer putting the rig to work.

Full coolant flush - its been 2yrs since the last one.
Replaced both battery terminals on the starting battery as they started to show a bit of corrosion and discoloration.
Replaced gear oil in both diffs, and replaced drain plugs and fill plugs with new bolts/washers
New fusible link, its been 5yrs on that one.

Need to think about replacing the starting battery. No hint of an issue, but its dated 9/2017. It may be time for that to be replaced too.

Do you have the ability to check the bolts via the FSM? If so you can pull it, check it, then reuse it. Otherwise I’m inclined to replace.

I could, but at that point i'd just replace it. Might just pull it and put a new one and call it good. I was nervous about pulling one. Slightly concerned they're all overtorqued, and was surprised that even then it was only about 70ft lb following fsm procedure.

I would just replace the ones you didn’t get a solid torque on. One at a time easy peasy. I would not worry about the over torque as long as they are all uniform with clamping force you will be fine. Did you reuse old studs?

More progress today, got most of the interior done including installing the refurbished steering wheel from Craft Customs. Color is somewhat close. Feels great, had them add some extra padding and add thumb rests at 10 and 2.

The dual battery switch is purposely hanging. I want to energize everything, make sure it is operating properly before pushing her into place.
