JDM rig. Mine has em too.

Deuce that acsd was one of my least favorite mods. What a total pain.
It wasn’t too bad, very fiddly due to small bolts and confined spaces. Glad it wasn’t more difficult. I am curious as to how the ACSD lever mechanism comes apart. Is just age? Faulty design? Too many starts in very cold weather?

My ole Girl finally got a brand new pair of shoes. 305/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on 17” method mr305s. She’s on a 3 inch dobinsons lift and fully tucked she’s about an inch from rubbing 👌

See...then I see a photo like this and I ask myself, "Do I REALLY want to put a rear swing out on the back and ARB Bull Bar up front?"

Mine is still wholly stock but running on 265's.

Your rig looks great!

Lol..for 265 tires, i would say no. Unless you plan on going larger than 35s tires. Most ppl on here is all about looks and to me, that is the wrong way of going by doing things for these types of vehicles. They are not particularly good looking,, nor fuel efficient for a daily to justify owning a modify 80s with big tires and lift for running errands.
But to each of their own.

I'm more than likely putting 285's on soon - spoke with my shop and now that I've finished baselining (mostly) they recommended adding the weight FIRST and then get the OME 2.5" lift (heavy)...so I'm probably going with the rear swing out with Jerry can set up, the fron ARB bumper, sliders, AND THEN the lift.

But, like I said, when I see a clean rig like mine, it makes me rethink my choices, hahaha.

Thanks,

Yeah, the other option is putting the spare in the 3 row. I personally like the swing out . With 285s, i believe you can fit that in the stock spare location with slight modification to the carrier or the wits end kit. i know it can be done...but clearance issues or departure angle is a concern..

The springs on that rig are older than I am, well okay that is an exaggeration. By the time you put that weight on you will also be wallowing around and hitting your bumpstops. The wallowing could become a bit unsettling. It was for mine and was actually a bit worse than that when hitting significant undulations or bumps while cornering on the freeway at speed. White knuckle time.

Putting the lift on then created some additional issues that were not corrected until getting the delta arms and panhard bracket. Buying those things was a godsend. That is quite possibly the best money I have spend on the rig. So, if you lift it, do it correctly and allocate funds for these items. Caster plates will also work, forget the bushings, wasting time and money on those. And just be prepared for what the weight does before the lift...

I was there a few weeks ago from Ohio in my 80 series. It’s my 4th year driving out there. I always have a buddy with me to help each other out but we are pretty self sufficient and have never needed rescue. Here we are changing a tire on my buddys GX on imogene.

Boy did I see a lot of Texas plates when I was there. Even pulled an SUV with bald tires from Texas out of a ditch just on the edge of Ouray this year. View attachment 3384231
Tourists or part timers from Texas can complain about Colorado services when they move here full time. We'll even come rescue you for free when you get in over your head....pretty much a daily occurrence. When "ya'll" move here we have plenty of DOT jobs here doing exciting things like plowing and vehicle maintenance. Sorry it won't pay well enough for you to afford a million dollar ranch, but you'll do fine with 3 other roommates.

I'm not mad I'm just not a tourist.

Chrome top bumpers rule BTW
We can relate. CO Haoles (newcomers) come down to SPI in your Sprinters to wind surf and try to throw flies on the skiff. It's not A River Runs Though It; If you can't send a full fly line–no Ueno! And @Dubbinchris, you're definitely from Snowbird country, Terrible drivers trying to pull fifth wheels with bald tires jacking up the roadways.
There's some solid cruiser heads from TX. Not counting GX'rs, excuse me. I mean Prado drivers lifted soccer mom car boring. Actually, GX's are nice and comfortable.

FWIW, I ran my 80 on 265's for a few years through many of the most challenging trails around Colorado and Utah. With some bumps and bruises, I got through some shocking terrain. It can be done, its just ugly :hillbilly:

Yeah you haoles come down to SPI in your Sprinters to wind surf and try to throw fly's on the skiff. You've got to be able to send a full fly line. I'd say you're tourists we call Snowbirds. Hey thanks bro, next time you out west you should rock some Jorks and Teva's to blend in.

I'm not mad; just heckling. It is the Mud forum after all.

If you get in over your head and get caught in an undertow, we'll rescue you all the same. Goes both ways!

Fair enough. I’ll rescue anyone as well…even in my tevas.

Got in on this deal as well. Not sure how long it will continue, the 80 Series Land Cruiser USA page on FB is talking about it, we are talking about it hopefully Nitro doesn't over sell causing back orders.

Hopefully Nitro fulfills the orders and not cancel them. I wonder if it was a glitch or a really crazy good deal.

It is apparently part of their summer clearance sale.
