Moot point. Most hardcore jeepers don't run stock axles anyways, and Dana 44 can't handle 40s.
That IS the point though. Most hard-core jeepers don't run stock axles why? Because they aren't that good. And yeah, cruiser owners swap axles sometimes too but more often than not the trucks just go...no need for changing everything out unless you're doing some really sketch stuff. My brother's wrangler grenaded a wheel bearing. Would have been way easier repairing that if it would have been a full float axle. No shop press or grinder needed.

Land cruisers are the exception not the norm when it comes to full float

Why are you even discussing this here? “What did you do with your 80 this weekend”. Try to read the room man.

Installed 4 of these. One went missing a while back when i had it at my mechanic. Replaced with one from ebay but was loose and eventually flew off somewhere. So was on ebay looking again and took one off to see markings on back and then lost it! Must not have put it back all the way tight. Realized all eBay ones are not OEM so bit the bullet and got 4 new OEM dealer. Not cheap but she's still my baby. Remaining 2 need some paint but wanted new. Had to use a mallet and thick towel to get them on and it was still a job! Super tight!

Installed a new accelerator cable. wow what an improvement in drivability. should have done that sooner!
What kind of difference did you notice? Can you describe it?

hell of a lot smoother. easier to go full throttle to get to the kick down. previously felt like had to ****ing stomp on the pedal to go.

Where is your rig? On the back burner till this one gets finished? Looking good!!!!!
Yo, Wes! Exactly. Have to finish this one first. Picking away at the HDJ80. When we get to the point when we're waiting for parts. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Trying to get up to your level, man!

Still have the entire weekend, but…
Went out to the Swift Reservoir today (Friday) for a quick jaunt (about 50 miles NE of Vancouver, WA). The Ape Caves were clear up to the trail head but then still heavy with snow. No off roading today but a nice out and back drive in the Cruiser, mostly to test the 4k “action” camera I picked up. I’ll process that video footage later but here are some pics…because I sometimes need to be reminded that I’m also a really good photographer.

“Oh, the places you’ll go…”

Excited to see the finish line insight on the Doublewrench 1fzfe for our friend @Alpine4X4.
This will be installed back in a very minty 1996 black edition.
Will also be getting a new ATFSpeed transmission.

so clean and looks a lot better than the literal "pile of parts" it was a few weeks back! Cannot wait to get started on mine, great inspiration IMO here on how to do it the "right" $$$$ way!

Parked my restored 80 in my new shop for the holiday weekend. I haven't posted anything in months as this building has consumed me for over a year. I will display all off my LC in this building in the near future. Been a while since I could bring her in but the shop is nearing completion.

Thank you George! @newtomelx
In my current reality this would not be possible without you and our buddy @js0k 🙏🏻
20+ years ago I apprenticed and worked for a Bimmer boutique so it’s hard for me to let go of the process, but this has been a good experience for me. And a lot of fun working with you and DW Jonny.
