Thanks!

I just got my LC last month. Got rid of my lifted and locked 3rd Gen 4R on Kings because I wanted solid axle.

Working on habitability mods first for the LC. Waiting for Corbeau to reply tomorrow to figure out new seats.

I had a 3rd Gen 4Runner Limited that I regret selling, I replaced it with a Crosstrek. The only thing missing on that 3rd Gen was a rear e locker.

Yep, that's what I had!

I do miss it, but not when I was running really technical stuff where you needed to take the perfect line.

Good looking rig. Any plans for a front bumper or other future mods?

Thanks ! Oh yeah, this is just finishing up the first three years of "baselining" What I have documented of the saga is in my build thread if you are curious. I'm now at the point of doing more of the things I planned to do first, like bumpers and sliders. The engine rebuild and while I'm in there disease consumed the initial budget of time and money about three times over. I have not made my mind up on bumpers quite yet. I like the Slee Short Bus and the Coastal Off Road at the moment, or would like to find a deal on an ARB so I could remove or re-do the tubing. I don't really NEED a hard core rock crawling bumper.

Can't go wrong with solid axles. Do you have a build thread for your 80 on here? If so share the link.

LOL!!! "three times over"... welcome to owning a LC. The Slee bumper is one of my favorites and Coastal makes some great stuff too but if you have the ability to weld or have a buddy in your back pocket that can look into 4x4Labs, the sell kits and saves you a little money.

Another ex-3rd Gen 4Runner guy here too. Unfortunately tragedy there led to my 80 series....

Jason
My tradedy was / is that I was dumb and sold it which I should not have. It was paid off and no car payments :bang::bang:

Damn, I'm getting called out

Since I'm only allowed to attach 5, I can't include the in-between pics as I had to pull the climate control out after a day to remove the ugly wood trim. That and I ran the wiring for my voltmeter and usb outlets, not to mention taking my Delta shift plate to my work to take a die grinder to it.

First pic is after the initial shifter and center console install. Afterward the CB radio install. And finishing it off with a much needed phone mount thanks to Wit's End plug insert.

Enjoy my friend.

What is that additional mounting plate behind the arm rest where you got your radio stuff mounted? Is that standard or an additional option You paid for? I’m getting this next week and want to get that as well. Thanks man, console looks great.

It's an add-on.

Previous owner had a Uniden Bearcat, with the mount in place and held by wood screws into the old center console. I bought that mounting plate to utilize my own Uniden radio.

You'll see the before pic, after pic, mount, and mount mock-up.

Thanks a lot for posting this!

Oh before I forget!

I could not, for the life of me, get the 2xOEM M8 bolts (they're reused in the front part of your console) to thread on.

The left side did, but barely, and I felt like I was going to strip the threads.

Right side was a no go.

Head to your local hardware store and get the next size up in length; I think I went 20mm? I only show one, but I bought two to use one on each side.

See below.

Oh man that’s gonna save a lot of time when I install mine. I really appreciate this man!

It was such a pain in the ass that day.

I drove around with the entire console/bezel outside the vehicle just to go to the hardware store.

But it was also the perfect time to head to a car wash place and vacuum out the inside. It was so nasty underneath. Removing the center bezel around the stereo is not required, mine was off because I replaced mine versus pulling off the ugly wood trim.

Sounds like almost every install I’ve done on my car and previous projects. Every quick job is one bolt away from taking a few extra hours and a bunch of swear words. I honestly can’t remember many installs going flawlessly, it’s super rare. I go in to any project already assuming it will take twice as long as people say it will hahahaha.

Yep!

The kit all comes with the hardware needed to install everything sans the 2 bolts I suggest replacing.

But if you want to mount anything to that rear mounting plate, you'll want to buy short nuts/bolts to add anything to it.

The cup holder add-on I think should come included. The Land Cruiser does not have an acceptable cup holder of any type from the factory.

I may pull the face plate off one day, get it blasted, and powder coated at my work. It's got a different finish than the rest of the whole console.

Good info!

Replaced all shift solenoids on the a442f. Not a hard job at all. Someone was in that tranny before I bought it. I know this because the pan was sealed with a gasket. Never leaked on me. I prefer not to use FIPG or silicon so I reused the gasket. Perfectly good gasket so I reused it. Had a hard time finding the proper gasket new.

Trans shifts and runs like new.

Thought I’d share. I started using these $8 Home Depot pump sprayers for gear oil a few years ago. Easies way to fill gear oil. 6 pumps, leave it and it will dispense a gallon of oil in about 5 minutes. Used to replace my trans fluid after the solenoid job. No funnel, no mess. Not sure if anyone else has done this. It works.
