The paint on my rear bumper, sliders and wheels were in rough shape. The bumper and sliders were painted with JD Blitz Black and the wheels were painted with Rust-Oleum metallic gray. The wheels really need to be sand blasted but I'm planning on a new set with the next few months.

Continued attacking my oil pump cover seal replacement, thankfully to much more success today than yesterday. Got a Milwaukee right angle M12 drill at Home Depot and Amazon managed to deliver some left handed bits by 10am. Now after a long day of attacking stripped screws, the job is done.

(I cut all the bits we used down with a cutoff wheel since I didn't have much room between the oil pump cover and the radiator/shroud.

Midway through. I cleaned this up as best I could with brake cleaner, brushes, and towels, but the photos really make it obvious I could have done more.

Ironically the gasket that was in there looked in pretty decent shape, but hey, my hunt for oil leaks continues to narrow down.

p.s. on a hike this morning (we drove the Tacoma since the 80 was a pile of pieces) my gf and I stopped and talked to the guy driving this 80. It seems like a solid build but I didn't see inside or under the hood. Still if someone is looking, the Slee parts all looked minty fresh. Paint was pretty bad up on the roof though.

Installed a new sticker and spotted a kit fox.

Overkill

Is the best. I like it! I may have to copy you on it. I've got same bumper
The 3/8” PVC nylon line works perfectly here. Lots of flexibility and there’s a small recess already cut into the bumper that works perfectly for the routing. The tubing bend is a little aggressive going into the manifold, but the great thing about PVC nylon is you can hit it with a quick blast of propane to relax the tubing, then hold it for a few seconds while it cools - and it will stiffen back up holding the bend. Placement on the swing out also makes it easily accessible from either side once it’s locked open.

Only change I’d make is a smaller manifold, but the cost of an all black 4-port 1/4npt manifold is ridiculous. If only @NLXTACY made what I needed. If only…

I finally got around to installing my 17” Derale cooler for the power steering...just in time for the hot weather here in nor cal

I bought the derale 17”cooler and pieced it all together...I used rustoleum professional gloss black on cooler for easy touch up, 3/8’s trans hose with push lock fittings..

first pic is paper clip OEM cooler on top for comparison ....

Nice! I bought a Wits end kit and I don't think the cooler he's using is big enough. Still ton's of noise when wheeling as if the paper clip is still there.

I do like those flares. The gents that play in the rocks or through tight tree’d trails seem to want them gone, but I think those that see more mud and snow know the merit.

the shiny black colour I don’t know if I’m 100% on board with, would like to see them painted to match.

my 80 is getting one tons and 42’s, I am very slowly in the process of that and modifying the stock flares. Gonna pay a guy who does fibreglass to finish them, I’ve already cut them and put in place to be lengthened. The tires will stick out at least 3” past and mine is a 92 with apparently slightly narrower flares so I’m not so much worried about damage. Planning to use rubber mat along the wheel wells to extend for legal tire coverage
I’m with you on the shiny black. Not going to body match them though while I agree they would look great, I don’t want to have to pay a body shop to paint if I destroy one and replace it.

I might do a matte clear coat.

Looks just like the setup I came up with! Been on for about 6 months now with no issues. Way better than the rusted/corroded paper clip. I was thinking of doing something similar with the transmission cooler w/ AN fittings since all of those hoses were way past done and the metal lines through the radiator support were also toast. Decided to just keep it plain by replacing the hoses for now. That's a fun project for another day....

You’ll probably have to change to a different cooler and make a mount. I was unable to find proper compression fittings to convert the factory cooler’s input/output to AN -6.

Yeah the Derale 13614 is what I was looking at.

The posts over the past week about different accidents give me an uneasy feeling. ... [snip]
Thank you. Many people wouldn't be ready, willing and able to jump in to the situation like you did. While the outcome wasn't the best, you showed up and did what you could to try and save a life. In the few fleeting moments of consciousness the accident victim had they understood someone was helping them - that's admirable.

Having been in some similar situations I understand some problems can't be solved, but we can always be there for a fellow human being.

Headed into the Mendocino Forest with a bunch of ZA guys, albeit Heep owners ! Went in just above Upper Lake and finally found camp near Lake Pillsbury for the first nite. Wheeled North the next day via Hull Mountain and camped the second nite in the Yuki Wilderness area. Came out late Sunday pm at the Eel River Campground, aired up, and headed home. 135 miles from when we left Upper Lake to Eel River, an epic adventure !

Be aware, burning pvc pipe creates chlorine gas.

Broken pvc is as sharp as razors.

Cheers
