No exciting places to drive and no snow down here in Texas. I did manage to get out for the first "Road Trip" in the truck though, headed down to the Austin area for a steal of a deal on a new canoe.

I skipped the highway and took the back roads, trying to connect some unpaved stuff just to at least get it dirty. Mission accomplished.

Can't wait to find some time to take it further and do some real exploring. I did snag the canoe though and had a great lunch with the seller as we sat outside in the 70F and super sunny weather on the restaurant patio.

So, first dirty, first road trip, first hauling. Feeling pretty good about it. Also, got a very excited thumbs up on the way home from the driver of a shiny brand new still wearing temp tags Land Cruiser. Guy with a fancy expensive truck that liked MY old truck, how bout that?

No pics, but I installed the Marlin Crawler beefy tie rod and steering link kit today. I needed new ends on my steering link so I decided to do both rods. Painted them up earlier this week, and installed them today.

One thing that I truly love about these rigs is that most of the work can be done in a driveway with a handful of tools, a measuring tape, and a beer.

Been a while. A couple months...

anyway, maybe in no particular order...

Two weeks wandering around in the desert. I think that’s pretty good for now...

I Swapped in a group 31 AGM battery with some slight modification and cable extensions. Also carpeted the rear drawers I made recently and installed the alu cab fridge slide. I’m just waiting on the demetic cfx 55 I bought Friday through REI with my 20% off coupon. I’m Still hoping to get a duel zone ARB zero 73 for some kind of Black Friday deal... but I’m not holding my breath. I had to secure this Dometic cfx55 for now. I also learned my break fluid is low after wheeling last weekend. I can’t tell where it’s leaking, but I am sure it’s my brake lines and they need to be replaced with extended ones. So, that’s next on the list 🤷🏽‍♂️

Those look like some great upgrades, but the battery cables make me cringe.

Hit the trails at Wooly’s Off-Road with some friends yesterday. Found a lot more challenges than we expected! Combo of slick mud, lots of leaves and way deeper ruts on trails we’ve run dozens of times made for a hectic day. A friend who had just bought a used Jeep came out for his first ever day of off-roading and got a heck of an intro. Somehow fell in unharmed and then we recovered him without any damage. Maybe he’ll come out again one day o_O

Lol. That wasn’t the actual final product. I had to make 1 more trip to the auto part store for more parts. That battery tie down is pretty weak too. I think I’ll browse the junk yard for another option.

What bike rack is that?

Spent the weekend in Anza Borrego, did some rock crawling inside the narrows and ultimately broken down on Sunday morning with a no start issue..... towed the rig out to the entrance and yet another flat bed pic....3rd time in 4 yts, and hopefully a loose wiring downstream from battery/fusible link with no power to ignition or power to interior/CEL. 50 miles of washboard road going 30 mph probably rattled something loose...EDIT: it was loose grounding to the wiring harness. Added 2 grounding straps from engine bay to chassis and it fires right up!
