Yes they are 7.5”. I am not worried about it 1 since I don’t air way down and I don’t worry about popping the bead off, 2 even Firestone says 7.5” is the narrowest wheel and 3 I may go with a weld on bead lock and won’t ever have to worry about it.
I would run a 7.5” with 315’s.

The FJ Cruiser wheel is narrower than stock and has more backspace than stock. The net result is you have narrowed your track by by almost 1 3/4 inches. The references I find list a minimum rim width for this tire to be 8.5 inches. You will be fitting a tire with a 10.2 inch tread width on a wheel with a flange-to-flange width of 8.5 inches. You will have quite a crown in that tread unless you really drop the air pressure. Your call.

I’ll most likely go with a wheel spacer to make up for the change in back spacing. I know several people with the same wheel/tire size and they don’t have any issues. I know it’s be a little better if I could go with an 8.5” wheel.... I guess I’ll see what happens and if need be I’ll change the wheels out with something else.

Just got out for a first test drive after a pretty lengthy set of front end upgrades:

• Delta 4" arms
• Dobinson's IMS/IFP shocks
• Tour Flex 3" tapered coils
• eimkeith panhard bar correction kit welded in + adjustable Ironman4x4 panhard bar

Wow, just wow. That plus my recovered driver's seat (did the LSeat thing) made it feel like a whole new rig. Excited for our camping road trip for Thanksgiving...have to finish the passenger seat first though. The will kill me if only one of the seats has seat heat haha.

Add the @Delta VS rear panhard bracket to square away the rear, and handling will be even more balanced out.

Last weekend I was invited by @2fpower to the Tuttle Creek - Mike Spear 2020 Fall Run and met the Tornado Alley Cruisers. They gave me a two day crash course schooling on Land Cruisers and rock crawling.

I mentioned that I changed the harmonic balancer and other parts when @chap79 asked me if I torqued down everything to spec. . .of course I didn't. So @chap79 invited me to his place to ensure White Sheep didn't fall apart while driving on the highway.

Today, on the way to @chap79, I stopped by @kc_chevota to pay some club dues and check out the turbo he built with some CXRacing parts, some upgrades, and a touch of his own fabrications. . .its a nice setup.

Got to @chap79 place and went to work. The balancer wasn't to torque, so he had me tighten all the bolts under White Sheep. Most of the needed a 1/4 turn. We also discovered I need to adjust my timing, and I already knew about my exhaust leaks.

Pulled the carpet to deep clean it, as well as install some sound deadening. Anyone have any ideas of what else I could do while I have it pulled?

I've been working off a pieced together version I got off a vendor's site because the download wouldn't work on the Resources tab here on Mud (missing some pages and torque values are scarce).

I just now tried downloading the FSM again and THIS time it worked. Now I've got what I need.

I don't know what year you have but if it's a 96 or 97 let me know and I can send you FSM info as well.

The one that hasn't worked for me over the last month of periodically checking just worked. Looks to be complete for a '96. Don't think there are any changes to a '97...? If there is more, then bring it on! About halfway through some maintenance this weekend (new gaskets, ignition, etc.). The more knowledge I have the better.

Yes I think the '96 manual covers most everything. I have a hard copy of the '97 manual that I've been using. You should be set for the most part. Some of the other more experienced members of the forum could comment on the differences between the two but I haven't found any yet myself.

Is there a good cheat sheet to reference for torque values? I just got a new torque wrench and itching to check some things.

What I did when I originally downloaded the 1996 FSM form TIS is separated it out by section into individual components. It made it easy to browse straight to the area you wanted.

For quick reference I printed out the service specifications from each section and put them in document protectors in binder that lives on the work bench.

The original zip file is still on my Drive (from before birfmark put his name all over it), but I don’t use Windows so the full paths might be too long for some users.

Add the @Delta VS rear panhard bracket to square away the rear, and handling will be even more balanced out.

The @eimkeith weld-in brackets do the same thing, maybe even better.

This morning I got my 80 back home, the guys at Tenacity Overland knocked it out of the park! This color is exactly what I was going for and the texture of the Kevlar liner is perfect.

While everything was all apart I decided to replace all the glass with new OEM and replace the locks (ignition, front doors, rear hatch and glovebox) with a new matched set from @Delta VS. I have new emblems to go on, but will wait until it’s warmer before trying to put them on.

Now I need to get cracking on the 6BT motor rebuild !

Put my M3 in storage for the winter and officially put the Cruiser back on DD duty. Also hit 180k on my way home, just getting broken in! (Wasn't paying attention and missed it by a couple miles lol)
