Got my Eaton e locker installed and headed out to Moab to go break her in before it starts getting cold and gross. Huge thanks to George at Valley Hybrids for getting the locker sent quickly and with everything I needed. I’m really bummed after talking to George the Eaton E Locker is now cheaper then the ARB Air locker due to them moving more stuff state side. I threw in a ARB front air locker this past summer and it already blew a o ring seal that is causing it to puke diff fluid out the breather when it’s locked. I’m sure it was due to installer error but still a bummer knowing I need to tear that all back apart. For now I just bring some spare gear oil and use it as little as possible

I had a auto locker in the back of my truck for the past year that makes sooo much noise when going around corners. Like out of the ordinary loud. I was surprised not to have any metal chunks spotted when I was pulling it out. Bigger surprise to me was how much less driveslop I have with the e locker which makes a hugeee difference in how it shifts, feels in parking lots, and engagement when getting on the gas on the highway after coasting. May seem silly but this difference makes me wonder how I lived with the rear auto locker for so long it was terrible in comparison.

Install on the Eaton was easy and worked flawlessly on the trail. Engagement and disengagement of the ARB is definitely a little quicker but I will take that all day over getting gear oil out the breather.

Moab was awesome, busy as always but good to get out there before the weather started to turn. We ran hells revenge on Sunday in 65 degree weather and 2 hours later it was 35 and raining like a mofo.

I don't know why, but that universal pinion flange hurts my eyes. It screams Wallmart at me. :meh:

Well Dan, maybe this OEM pinion flange will ease the pain? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Oh wait you can’t see the flange surface! You will just have to trust me, it’s OEM. 🤗

Cheers

Dang, thats a CRAZY big screw...
Picked up a screw in a tire on our recent offroad trip. It was only leaking slowly at night (seemed to hold air fine during the day) so I left it alone and kept wheeling. Drove another 600+ miles before the trip was finished. Drove it a few more days after getting home and finally got it fixed on Friday. Turned out to be a little bigger screw than I expected. Haha.

Stripped her down after this, bout to monstaline it in grey, deleting my broken flares(not sure how i feel about that) and gotta build sliders.

I just ran without flares for a while, waiting for the new ones to come in, and if I had been in your position to get the holes filled and the truck sprayed to all match, I would have kept it de-flared...

I bought my 80 already deflared with the holes plugged and lined. I do like the look of flares on these vehicles but I don't think they're worth the hassle if you're running larger tires and you will be wheeling it. Everyone seems to complain about tires ripping them off at some point so I'm pretty happy to have them gone. Here's what my rig looks like just for reference.

The flares are not prone to ripping off unles you hit something. Mine are fine and I have been wheeling the truck for 27 years. :meh:

On the other hand I have the mindset where I want to see how far I can go without damaging the vehicle. My wife sometimes takes hers to a point where the scraping gets too loud

Like I said, I like the flare look. Fully respect your perspective.

He made his own bumper.
very nice. it did catch my eye. no wonder I was not able to find a production bumper that looked exactly like it. I especial like the slopping approach angles

Looking for the inner fender liners. The one I had here covering my steering box and the opening was damaged beyond use when I replaced the steering box. Anyone have a good source for replacements?

So I will eventually do a build thread about being back on mud and yada yada yada. But i got a white Lexus and just got back from a trip with @Andrew Bluemel. Here are pics. And this truck is turning into a Road trip adventure truck (as in no 3-link crap). I bought it stock on Aug 20th. Put 37s on with 2in Dobinsons lift. And did a bunch of pm. Blew the stock rad.....that was fun. And been on 3700 miles of trips since.
