I didn't have to mess with the control box at all. I just left it attached to the winch and ran pos/neg cables to the battery isolation switch which is (or will soon be) mounted in the battery compartment. It's just sitting in there loose right now.
With the ARB bumper, the control box has clearance all around, even with the 3/4" spacers. Also, there's ample room to reach down and access the clutch release without clocking the housing, which I don't think is possible with this winch.
Also, just to update, I loosened the winch mounting bolts and lifted the winch up in the slots and tightened the bolts back down. This reduced the lip inside the fairlead to about 1/8", but it's still not a perfectly smooth transition. I'll be ordering an offset hawse fairlead shortly.
