Some updates on the axle swap, special shout out to @inkpot, @richardlillard1 and Travis :
Installed the wiring, thus the lights on the dash all work.
Removed the magic dial out of the donor
Removed the 4.10 gears, sent to Zuk and he put in the 4.88's
Installed the 4.88's.
rebuilt the axles.
I'll have a whole list of what was required to swap.
Still some wiring and loose ends to tie up, but we're close to being 3x locked and ready to rock.

The 80 is getting more and more love, is it the next iconic 4x4?

Begins around 28 seconds:

The best part of the blue hub fan clutch is the sound of it actually doing its job. That roar is awesome and has turned heads.

During the initial test drive, I ran up this short steep paved incline, about 1/16 of a mile. naturally had to punch it and man, it sounded like a jet past 3500..

Why the blocks on the Z? (Looks like a z)

Good call - it is a Z, specifically a M roadster. The blocks are there to keep it from rolling at all, the front of the roadster is about 2" from the wall and the back is about 10" from the cruiser. I leave it in neutral (with the park brake on) while its stored to prevent the shifter from leaning in that direction after 6 months of not moving.

Brilliant RTT storage/shuttle system!

I find myself in Haiti this week for some solar work. The group I’m working with just bought a new HZJ-76L and it is my ride for the week :).

Plain Jane truck with power windows about the only option. Diesel, 5 speed manual, part time 4WD, manual hubs. The running gear looks awfully similar to the 80s.

- bonus shot of an 80 through the windshield of the 76 in Port au Prince traffic👍.

Did a little more painting and took care of a long overdue task that has been on my list for a while but just never got around to it. Thanks @LandCruiserPhil for the write up and @Onur for the parts :). Link to the write up just to motivate some other lazy people like me.Hot drivers feet? This may be your fix.

Just touching up some areas under the hood that rubbed a little and exposed metal to keep the rust at bay. Not perfect but it is under the hood and will be covered by the heat shield anyway. More for peace of mind and I am too OCD not to have it match even if it isn't seen.

Putting some paint to cover up the bare metal from the hole that was cut.

Actually did it twice - one on each vehicle. Pretty crazy how similarly they wore over the last 20 years.
