Playing at SEMA this week, only saw one 80 in the show and another at Paris. Surprising.

My old lady and I drove the first gen down to pick up my first FZJ today! Its a little clapped but I borderline stole it so I am very happy! First thing we did when we got home was run up into the hills :)
It doesn't seem like the center locker is engaging when in low range and I am pretty sure the front and rear lockers are frozen up too :( The previous owner(who had it for 20 years) never even knew they were there...
I will mess with them tomorrow and see if I can free them up.

Great looking ride! It's been a while, but when I got mine a few years back it had sat in a field for a while and had the same symptoms. IIRC the front and rear lockers won't engage unless the center diff locker is indicating it's engaged. So, you won't know if they work until the center diff locks. When I got mine the center diff wouldn't engage in low range. I put the stick in and out of low range repeatedly about 100 times (literally) and then the center locker started working (I've seen others do this with good results as well). Once the center diff was working, the front and rear lockers worked as well. That was 3 or 4 years ago and it's never given me a problem since.

On a side note from another Lexus owner, if you end up having any battery drains, the two I've found are my CD changer in the center console and then a couple years later I had another battery drain and found it was the built in cell phone option. For the CD changer, I just removed it and put in a Land Cruiser console. For the cell phone battery drain, I just pulled the cell phone fuse for now.

Paint is finished on the latest desert dune collectors addition cruiser. Brought it back and installed the new ARB deluxe bumper. This is desert dune number four.

Nice. I don't feel too bad for you now. Autumn will be missed nevertheless..

Preciate it man, still unsure what or how far I want to go with this one.

Hello there,
I’m thinking about a 1VD single turbo diesel V8 with its 70 series manual gears, want to use 100 series diffs which I have upgraded to 4.88 gear ratios.
I’m confused about three platforms;
Should I go with a,
Fj45 chasis
Fj60 or fj62 chasis
80 series or 100 series chasis
So for body to cover it up is the classic Fj45 single cab truck. However some friends recommend fj62, 80 or even 100 series body.
Would u guys help me which platform would serve better to get me a vintage truck with the mojo of modern tech !!!!?

Installed 37x12.50r17 Falken MT01 on Tundra/Sequoia wheels today. I'll need to figure out any clearance issues and make a decision on pulling my flares.

Finally made it home. Long day today working but I managed to get back to the yard and work on the 80 a bit. Installed the Slee Drawers I got from @gearguywb

Just had to move one crossmember one inch so it would work on the 80 since they were originally in a 100.

Then I tested to see if the front runner flat pack storage bag thingies fit! They do.
Also tried to see what things fit in the little cubby spaces at the front of the drawers.

I am going to be swapping out the locking mechanisms on it for slam latches. This way I can remove the block off plate and regain a third cubby space up front. They hold lotsa crap! Now I have to get some longer bolts for the plywood on top, so I can add a couple of tiedown points on each end and keep my fridge secured.

By the way the fridge fits in the drawer if I leave the top off. Its an Edgestar 63qt.

So I got 12 cans of Rustoleum appliance epoxy, some tape and a bunch of paper... and now Im tan!
I know I didnt care to do any real body work. I just wanted to lighten up the color for the heat and get rid of the flakes.
