Monsoon storms everyday in the high country here in AZ for the last week. Rained so hard I had to go up and get dirty.

FYI. Going up steep muddy terrain isn’t the hard part for land cruisers...it’s coming down the rutted muddy trails with small creeks flowing down...no control is no bueno. Gravity happens fast.

Took the kids out and bounced around. Had a blast and continued my learnings on how to drive in mud and water.

I bet it was a lot like driving downhill in the snow, you never want to lock up the brakes in snow as you have no control. Lightly feather the pedal.
 
Had a leak in the gas inlet tube/hose to fuel tank. Total disaster. Got new part only to realize you cannot install it due to its shape and being above the frame unless you cut it in two and weld back on. That unfortunately wasnt going to happen. I prefer to fix the right way but had no choice but to sand down inlet tube where corrosion was and use marine JB Weld. Woke up this morning....poured gas in and it worked. Fingers crossed for a long life.
 
The TBI was too fussy,

So........... I decided to simplify things. I Took this photo while I was working on it. It runs much better than before but I still need to find a radiator solution. It runs 210-220 degrees with the stock radiator using a 160 tstat. I'm running a crate motor(350) and a Holley 600 making about 210 hp mated to the Toyota transmission. I am happy with the performance / drivability but cooling this beast is still a concern.
 
When you hope that when you take off late Friday for an impromptu camping trip you’ll find your favorite “secret” campsite empty and...

Working on the LX450's broken rear hatch linkage plastic snap....

Anybody somehow know part number for part in pic?

Local toyota ordered 6975914050 snap, door lock.."pink"... part was not the right one...mine is yellow and a little bigger...

I just usually go to the local wrecking yard and rummage thru other toyotas for that kind of stuff.
 
Did you happen to grab hug to fender measurements? Looks like about 4 inches of lift to me.
I did. It was about 19" at all 4 corners. So about 3.5" up front and approx. 5" in the rear. Keep in mind this is listed as a 2" lift by Dobinson, which is crazy. I'm unloaded at the moment, but have WKOR sliders waiting to be put on and 4X4Labs rear bumper ordered.
 
Finally done! Total of 18 hrs start to finish. That’s probably twice as long as it should take but I don’t work the fastest. And was quite a bit rusty. And I painted stuff. Only damaged one seal and it probably would’ve been fine if I had left it but since I had some on hand I swapped it out.

She stops on a dime.

And filled the diff with the oil pump that @LandCruiserPhil recommnded a couple of years ago. Filled the front diff in about 3 minutes. I had forgotten I had it!

All new axle seals, bearings (saved the old Koyo bearings for spares for the next kit if they are needed), new rotors, new calipers, new pads, new brake fluid.

And shout out to Joey aka @NLXTACY for the reference guide and Kurt aka @cruiseroutfit.

But the biggest shout out to Onur aka @beno. Walked me through multiple steps I wasn’t confident in. Thanks bro!

Kidding, I just did this recently too and it is extremely satisfying when complete (including cleanup). Was surprised how much more worn my rear pads were compared to the front. :beer:
