A guy hit me in traffic and I tried to find the owner with his plate number. Only way to do it was getting a cop to follow through on the hit and run which they did. Not trying to be a jerk, but it you've been part of four data breaches, you're doing something more that putting a pic of your plate number on a pic on the webs. Anyways, last weekends annual drop in and hot soak camping trip.View attachment 1688116
No offense ever taken on mud, it's a family site :). Yes, I buy things on the internet, I have been through numerous work related security clearance investigations, I bank online, I use my credit cards, I pay taxes online, health care records are digitized, I am on LinkedIn. Yes, with a hit and run, the cops are going to get you quick access (unless you are in NYC where nobody cares unless there is injury), but your insurance company can do it too, and others. But I'm in NY where my plate is read by camera at least once a day.

Nice rig, so jealous of you guys that live out west, so much open space and places to go to find solitude, and I have yet to meet a person out in the west (exception is cali) that I did not immediately get along with well. Good people.

I love my privacy, but have given up at this point. In fact, this is the first social media site I actually add personal comments to. But this is an exceptionally useful site for a small subset of people into specialized things.

Speaking of that, going to do the rest of my window runs and test out the vessel JIS screw driver set that just arrived from Wits' End. It is the one made in Thailand, not Japan, but visually the quality looks equal to, or better than the level tools I have, it's nice to have a dedicated case too, I must have tons of screw drivers but they are everywhere, and in various states of wear. Without good tools I'd be half the wrench turner I am.

Couple more things done to freshen up the ol' 80.. Pic of custom rotopax/propane tank/shovel mount mounted on single swingout (minus actual rotopax mounts/canister and shovel).. Drawer painted and installed too... Oh and added a battery terminal mounted fuse block and ran all the aux negs to a single buss bar ( this is on the 1st battery, already have a larger fuse block on the 2nd aux battery). Lastly, cleaned all wiring up..

It's back! Just got my rig home from CT after a HG repair and a ton of WYIT's. I'm shuffling through receipts, my notes and pictures during the process that I'll eventually add to my well ignored build thread. A few teasers of @scrowley's handiwork attached for your viewing pleasure. Super clean work and she ran like a top all the way home.

Swapped in a new fuel pump sock, wasnt hard but I'm glad thats a once a 300k miles or so item. Now for step #6.

I did some measuring and discovered that my Wyeth-Scott More Power Puller box is the same height as the rear tire hump. So, I'm using it now in place of my PVC pipe frame to support my large containers (which aren't that heavy):

Then, I narrowed the width of the frame, and added longer legs to it so that I can use it to support the edge of sleeping pad, where it extends past the edge of the folded seat:

And the cooler fits in nice and snug between the edge of the door frame and the outside edge of the PVC frame (and I'm going to strap it down while moving also):

I bought a upper hatch from a 91 and installed it on my 94. My son and I had to swap out the back glass (the 91 was not tinted) and add the mount for the 3rd brake light (which was not required in 91) and also got a matching gas door to replace the nasty one that was on the truck. As you can see the PO backed into a tree and damaged the deflector (removed) and badly dented the upper part of the hatch. Best part of the new hatch is no mounting holes for the useless deflector.

Oh, and I also replaced the O-ring in my speedo sending unit that had been leaking.

Got another window run done and replaced more hose clamps. The vessel JIS screw drivers worked really well for the door panel screws, perfect fit for each screw. Also impressed with how it was easy to feel how much torque is being applied. maybe bc a good fit means better feedback (less push)? either way good stuff. Thanks @NLXTACY.

That 'useless deflector' actually helps keep the rain off the rear window a lot! I did the same thing as you...replaced the rear hatch with an earlier one that did not have the deflector. I noticed that a lot more snow and rain gets on the window while driving. I have to mount that 3rd brake light still.

My roof rack killed the airflow. Now my deflector is as useless as a wing on a 95 Honda.

Yeah I ran out again. BTW turn those clamps 45° towards the front of the truck. It’ll make replacing it much easier when you do hoses again.
Yeah I know. I just mock it for show and tell. Waiting for a few more things to show up for install. I will install where it will be easiest for me to service. Thanks for the great product.

Picked up a spare engine. Planning to tear it down, get it all cleaned up, have the head re-worked and all new gaskets and hoses. Swap it in the LX450, then do the same to that engine and swap it into the Cruiser. Then once more and have a spare on the shelf. It will be a process that will span out at least a year or more.

My wimpy MAF swaybar drop bracket failed after about 6 years during my last trip. Didn't notice it had broken til I was at home. It also broke the Energy Suspension swaybar poly bushing bracket . I had some machined aluminum spacers sitting in my garage so I thew them on with stock bushings. Nothing too exciting.

... And after doing a brake pad replacement during my last Mexico trip and using the bottle jack on some cracked uneven pavement on the side of a road I ordered a @LandCruiserPhil bottle jack adapter. Quick shipping! Thanks!
