Spent some time cleaning and painting the axles since I rebuilt the knuckles last week.

I then marked all the suspension fasteners to be able to easily see if anything becomes loose in the future.

Step 1. Spray with simple green, let it soak, rinse with the garden hose.
Step 2. Lots of wire brushing.
Step 3. Repeats steps 1 and 2 until satisfied.
Step 4. Mask and paint.

But having a west coast truck does make it easier. A heated pressure washer followed by sandblasting would be the preferred method.

@Aloha Jen Can you post more details on the upper console. It gave me an idea of where I could mount a radio face plate.

I’m certainly no expert, but I guess they came on non US 80 series that had the auxiliary fuel tanks. The one I got came from Australia. You need to get the non US sun visors without the ears (still available new) and would need to do some minor trimming of the headliner to make the console fit....so you need to permanently commit to it.

What happens to the visors that they get all floppy? Water damage? Mine are terrible too, but still closer to the bottom of the list then other items.

Again, no expert on this, but I think it’s a design flaw on the 80. Most seem to have a problem with them. The original ones on my ‘85 60 series are still in great working shape, just old and dingy. Even the ones on my ‘75 40 still work better then the ones on my 80, but just replaced the 40’s visors (also still available from Toyota) because they were old, stained, and gross.

Not a lot of time on my hand this weekend so only managed some simple tasks.
Fitted one of these.

Tidied up the mess of wiring that I had on my main battery..

And then I fitted a new decal that one of my Australian buddies made for me.

Got my OME setup installed, heavy front medium rear. Spent a whole day mostly wrestling with the steering damper pressed bolt and trying to get the trackbar bolt back in. Rides great and i havent even put on the caster cirrection yet. I will hopefully get a roof rack soon but looks like it will be very close to fit in the garage. Otherwise pretty happy.

Got tired of looking at this disgusting discolored trim piece around the sunroof controls.

Instead of just repainting it or finding a newer one, decided to do it the hard way and found me one if these fancy setups!

Yes. Floppy visors are the worst. I prefer them stay in place without any support.

Crossed state lines to get coffee this AM ...

This is the Washington Crossing Bridge spanning the Delaware River between NJ and PA. It is 114 years old and the total width is 15' (7.5' for each lane). It is located at the spot where George Washington crossed the Delaware River in 1776 in the Battle of Trenton during the Revolutionary War.

Mirrors need to be folded in to make it across without hitting the bridge or oncoming traffic. I cross this 3 times daily and every morning there are new smashed mirrors on the road deck from "newbies" who haven't learned the protocol yet . Believe it or not, this bridge handles 6,500 cars a day. In the AM it is bumper to bumper.

Know that bridge, a buddy is up river at Narrowsburg now and it is still iced up, but break up is starting.
