Made it down to Baja Sur! No surf yet but plenty of exploring and off roading. Blew out the plug on the back of the power steering pump one night and barely limped back home with no power steering. JB weld to the rescue to seal the hole...dear god I hope it will hold fluid now.

The culprit - PS fluid leaked out that hole as fast as I could pour it into the reservoir

Damn hood insulation fell off too from being soaked.

Hoping to be able to drive today...I need more beer n tacos :hillbilly:

how long will you guys be there? There is going to be some major swell hitting in the next couple days! Models are showing Hurricane Hillary and Irwin to possibly combine and throw some major waves. Stay safe and have a great trip!!! I'm jealous.

Added a 2nd 80 ('94) and 3rd overall. I doubt I hang onto this one...not sure what the plans are. Started cleaning it out....pressure sprayed the rat carpets. Definitely needs some attention to the normal stuff....window regs are super slow, needs speakers, radio, etc. Has some rust, but not awful.

If you end up parting it out let me know. There are a few bits I wouldn't mind having off of it.

It's weekend all week .

Sunday into Monday drove 1100 miles from NJ to FL towing my home built kayak trailer to join family for vacation. 70mph pulling a trailer does suck fuel, even in the flat east coast.

The trip was uneventful until a Suburban on I10 west of Jacksonville had the rear window EXPLODE out two car lengths in front of me (they had crammed one too many suitcases in the back pressed against the back hatch glass). Looked like a huge cloud of water droplets until I hit the spray of glass shards at 70+mph. Front of the truck is pockmarked down to primer and it cracked my windshield . Got my attention real quick!

Will spend the week kayak fishing, tubing , skurfing, and practicing Step 6 . Today I buffed/polished the nose of the truck. It is very therapeutic bringing 20 year old paint back to life.

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident.. Nice LX and how do you like the Cargo Barrier? Speski brand?

welcome to the real world  only two states to be in down under, queensland, and drunk :p

Thanks brotha! Me and my Navy buddies always have a good time out here! We wanted to go to Bribie Island over the weekend and rent a 4wd, just couldn't find the time chasing all the women ;)

It is the Speski barrier and I love it. Fit and finish is great and it is rock solid.

Thanks, its actually a blue/slate color called Pyroclastic, it one of Monstaliners color choices. I use about a half gallon to do that project.

Thank you! We are down here for a while... ~3 more weeks so I'm definitely hoping to get some waves from these storms and hopefully others ;) So far where we're at the swell hasn't really hit but it should start arriving anytime soon now!

Finally found the source of my vibration issues:

Surprised you haven't seen anything there yet, but that also doesn't surprise me... Models were over-hyping this swell based on position, track and strength...none of which panned out. Swell good for east cape and cabo only really...and a few "select" spots. Maybe as it swings out wide you'll get something to ride. As far as SoCal..I'm not holding my breath.

@ Grant Woodridge ... Are those bead locks on OEM wheels?
