What is the definitive answer on O2 sensors for 93-94? I'm getting a recurring Code 28 periodically. Time to pull the trigger. I've heard conflicting discussions on different brands to use but can't remember. @Cruiserdrew @half k cruiser @Tools R Us @inkpot @baldilocks

IIRC the 93-94 vs 95-97 use different brands. Bosch vs Denso or something. Thanks.

Definitely order from Toyota or you will end up buying twice. On the newer OBDII rigs you can get Denso off of Amazon as they are OEM supplier. The older OBDI rigs use a different supplier.

But isn't the NTK O2 sensor the same exact sensor since they are the OEM supplier for 93-94?

It's $150/pr or $450/pr!

Burgundy and Dark Green are my favorite colors for the 80. I got stuck with Black. :(
Funny, black is one of my favorites. Then white white, then 40th sage. I really like the blue, but not enough to seek or own one.
Are you guys kidding me? Black, Burgundy and Dark Green (in that order) are the official worst colors. Everyone knows this (yes I am trying to start a flame war.)

It's burgundy, dark green, then black as worst colors. Simple reasoning, burgundy and dark green are faux off road vehicle colors. Popular in the US with the Eddie Bauer edition Explorer.

White and silver are the best! :flipoff2:
Gotta hide those scratches

I got a pair of Toyota sensors from cruiserparts.com for something like $290 iirc. If I can't get a good sensor from Toyota then who? Changing O2 sensors is a pita and I wouldn't want to do it more than once.

Price I gave you at $225 and change is for both of them.

NTK sounds right but there is another off brand that you can get that sounds similar like maybe NGK, those won't work. I'll be honest, I've had a drink or two tonight so don't quote me. However, the OEM should not be $450, closer to the $200 or under mark. If your really wanting to double check PM me and I will pull my records from when I bought them several years ago. BTW haven't seen that tint for the KOSO gauge, not too concerned about it, but if you do have some I'm still wanting ;)

Finally finished all my pictures from my Canyonlands trip. Here are a few more. Highly recommend it! Take the Poison Springs Rd. out of Hanksville, UT into Canyonlands and to the Dollhouse campground. You will need a backcountry permit so plan way in advance. Second time I've done it. There was a girl who is thinking about doing some guided trips & she knows her stuff, let me know if you are interested and I'll pass your info along to her.

I like the Dark Green. Not a fan of Black. Had too many black cars in my past.
I looked at a Green with beige/tan lowers and reminded me of the Eddie Bauer Explorer and that was not going to happen. Kinda hate that combo.
My favorite would have to be the 40th in the sage(?)

The tint is sitting in my 93. I keep forgetting envelopes! I will get it sent out tomorrow. OFFICE DAY!!

There are a handful of guys I need to send it out to.

I see your logic but have you seen how black looks on an 80? Black is for muscle cars, black on an 80 looks like a cancerous, dirty bubble. It is beyond the worst, transcending horror. That said, burgundy and dark green are awful in their own right for the reasons you mentioned. I haven't seen the mid 90's toyota ads but I'd be willing to bet everything I own on the fact that the majority of the 80 series advertisements featured one of these two colors and that the people in these ads had on down filled vests.

NTK is the line of oxygen sensors made by NGK. The OEM supplier to Toyota for the o2 sensor in OBDI cruisers.

How much fuel did you use per rig and for how long? I was in the area last month and only having one Jerry can kept me away based on what the maps looked like.

The best colored 80 is the one you own.

Other folk's opinions are just like buttholes; everyone has one and they all stink.

Enjoy your cruiser.

Speaking of O2 sensors, I'm 99% positive my cruiser doesn't have cats.Only 99% because I only looked from the manifolds to the muffler. (Yes logic dictates that there won't be a cat after the muffler but you never know with people these days)

It looks like someone just welded in some straight pipe where the cats should be. I'll take a picture this weekend.

Forgot that this past weekend I attempted to change out the plug wires. I got halfway done when I needed to remove the cover plate in the rear of the VC... Screws turned to rust powder when I put the screwdriver to them. Gonna have to cut a slot in each to use a flat blade on them.

Very true.
I still don't know what color mine really is.

If the bolts are OEM there should also be a 10mm head on them. Try that size socket and see what happens.
