Not to be the guy giving advice when not asked for any, but if I were you, I'd go ahead and replace your fusible links! They look a little old and will fail eventually.
I appreciate it. They are new and inside the old box... starter is also rebuilt.

I did finally get my tailgate lid installed. "Houston, we had a problem."

My lid has a slight deflection in the center, about 1/4". You'll also see the hardware that connects the rods sticks up a little. You can see the rubber trim I added to the cut. Seems to be good protection from sharp edges.

This led to two problems. First the doors were warped.

Second, the latch hardware was blocked by the inner door frame so it couldn't move.

Well, I shimmed the low spots with nylon spacers and ground the inner lid frame.

Everything is happy now. ;)

This was a while back but I just got the vid edited... it's hard to spot & vid at the same time. I had @baldilocks drive my rig so I could get a look at it move through the rocks... it was a good day, I learned a lot of what a 80 can & can not do...

Mount Rushmore. What confuses me is why these guys aren't pictured driving a Land Cruiser.

I'm a week late but Memorial Day weekend was love/hate ....

Got a great deal on a full roof rack and RTT only to have it completely blow off the car since it was strapped down to the factory roof rack. I learned a very important lesson about securing items down that day. Brand new rack probably done for...and the RTT definitely has some issues that need to be addressed. We ended up hitting hungry valley OHV still and saw a ton of 80's...the most I've ever seen in one place in my life. Did a couple of trails with the cruiser but mainly gave the new dirt bike most of the attention :)

If anybody has any recommendations on straightening out the roof rack, feel free to PM me. I'm not really sure what to do with this thing now :frown:

Looks like it has just about the right curve to follow the roof line of a FJ cruiser. sell it to one of those guys and buy a new one.:rofl::rofl:

Received a package from down under!

Installed some much needed custom fit seat covers from Caltrend. The Eurosport pattern is pretty much an exact match colorwise - I would've preferred the Sportstex pattern but it's beige was several shades darker than the existing leather. Installation was very easy ... so long as you take care to loop above & below the horizontal rod at base of the seat. Overall I'm very pleased for just for $152 (autoaccessoriesgarage.com with 20% off discount code). Thinking now I'll order a set for the middle row ...

Do these seat covers slide out of position when you get in and out of the vehicle? I have tried a couple of alternative and they all require re-tightening due to slippage.

We are moving to Sacramento area......nice area but gonna miss socal.

Good for you! So Cal is home for me (born and raised), but we nearly pulled the trigger on moving to Tahoe this summer. Decent chance we're there next year. Scope out the trails and we'll make a run up there sometime!

Ya, I had the same problem with my old seat covers. After a couple of vigorous butt wiggles there is no give whatsoever with these covers - they are very tight around the leather. The bottom cover has 3 clipped & adjustable straps running under the seat (2 lengthwise & 1 widthwise) that you can cinch to make things real tight. The seatback cover is also incredibly tight & fitted around the seatback, plus it has a 1" wide velco strip that connects the front & back sides). Now I did 'repatch' the leather on the bottom cover with some Gorilla tape so that might be giving some added grip to the new covers, but the old covers slid every which way from day one.

Maybe @malteserunner can speak to their long-term fitment but so far I'm incredibly happy with these ... so much so that even after I put in new leather I plan to reuse these covers to make Texas summers more bearable.
