I am embarrassed to say that I am finally getting around to install the Trail Tailor tailgate lid made by @reevesci. I think I've had it for six months now sitting in the garage.

Now that I'm about to get started I've been searching all the installs. I'll probably just line the inside with some outdoor carpet I have on hand. What I have a question about is what lengths have folks gone toward protecting the tailgate rods? I've been considering making some sort of barrier.

EDIT: I see I've waited for a heat wave. Suppose to be 114˚ tomorrow.

Busy Saturday baselining my Cruiser. A/C service. Weather here is finally getting hot so time to get my a/c working. I took it in to get recharged a few weeks ago and found out I have a bad compressor a blocked condenser and some other vague issues. So yesterday my son and I replaced the compressor with a new Denso one also a new Denso condensor and Denso expansion valve. Getting a new charge tomorrow so I am hoping I got it all sorted out. Cleaned out the evaporator and took out about a cup if decomposed (composted) vegetation. I then blew out the fins of the evaporator with compressed air and reassembles it all. Also did the steering linkage firewall grommet so no more hot feel. Installed the missing rear seat step and ordered PCV part to put in next week. So not much :)

You have been busy, i trust you also replaced the receiver/dryer...:flipoff2:

Finally got to work on the drawers again. All the fit panels are 90% there. A few spots need sanding, but overall pretty happy with the fitment of it all. Just need to cut out the drawer fronts, pick up some hardware, do a final test fit/mock up, and then bed line and install.

Debating on whether to use a couple of climbing holds to pull the drawers open or a pop out edge pull...one fun and one serious.

I did six hours of rust wrangling. Finally got the LSPV off. Had to saw it off.

Pressure washed the underside to get the last 8 months of rusty, bar chain oil soaked, wire brushed and chore boy scrubbed crud off of there.

Let it dry and shot the whole thing with a heavy dose of the oil. The pics are from right after I sprayed. A lot of it has already soaked in by now, which is about 5 hours later. This may still look bad, but when I got the truck, there were huge flakes and thick rust formations on all of this stuff. I can now see some scraps of paint remaining. Once this round has enough time to soak in and create the next round of stuff I want to wash off, I am going to think about POR15ing some of these sections.

It does make things easier to remove if you can get the oil to soak into the fasteners and let it just hang out up there. Several sets of bolts that would have never budged, came right out today after 8 months of the oil treatment.

Testing out my cooling system in the first heat wave this summer in California, bummed that I didn't take a picture when it showed 123 degrees for intake temp. With the snorkel my intake champ is exactly 10° higher than Ambient when cruising.

When you've got to pressure wash the mildew off the shady side of the house and neither the extension lance nor the ladder seem to work, a 3/4" sheet of plywood across some Yakima bars atop the FZJ80 makes for a fine work platform. Stable but narrow enough to fit between the AC units and the retaining wall.

I really should do that. But weekends are short.

The neighbors house is for sale right now for close to 1M. I'm trying to keep housing here affordable.

Yeah, I saw that and I figured since those are old school someone might recognize it. But I blurred his plate since its not my vehicle. Very very clean 80 but the wife had me on shopping cart duty so I couldnt hang around and wait to meet the guy.

Don't feel too bad, I haven't installed mine yet either. Turns out it's a good thing for me, I went down a really bad section of trail on the trout opener in May and decided to back out. Forgot about the stump I passed going in and smashed my swing out bumper into my lower gate, caving it in bad. My storage lid will go in my replacement lower gate, eventually!

Didn't do much to/with the 93 this weekend. Worked 15 hrs on Sat. Ran a few errands this morning then my son and I got in a couple of hours of fishing. Got home in time to do the "firetruck mod" or "fireman mod" or whatever it is called. Also took out the sleep platform and may put in at least one of the second row seats. And insulated the Edgestar fridge. Not sure it will help much.

Next weekend I am finally installing my dorkel that has been sitting in the garage for a year or two. I need it to be able to run my solar wiring and light wiring. Plus, rollover protection!

Tried to go on a 5 day adventure in northern Michigan but some family emergencies changed the plan one day in. All is good now, I am happy to say. I did meet @Ocho77 for a brew on my way north. Great guy and a cool black LX (forgot a picture!).

Got a chance to do a "family" photo tonight with my 80, my daughter's 80, my new mega-project 60, and my 40. Then a picture of my new plates. Can't believe all 3 were available!

Well, the picture isn't super fantastic but it means that both lockers are in and both axles have been rebuilt with new bearings! BAM WHAT!?! The best part is that I finished this after driving the 10 hours back from Sedona with the kids Saturday and before Fathers Day on Sunday!
