Way late comment on this, but awesome lines on that crawl...you made it look easy. I wheel the piss out of my rig, and that trail looks gnarly...and pictures never really do the trail justice. Very cool.

I chopped the frame and welded in the factory hitch.

Looks good! I could smack myself for getting rid of mine when I took it off! I went to a bolt on Clevis, but now I want to switch back to standard 2" receiver. All the add-ons are made to slide in a receiver!...... Anyways, I like how it's flipped, giving you a lot better departure angle.

You sure about that? I've been called out twice for not having timing set at stock.
Yes, 100%. 1996 and newer, no timing functional.

My whole truck is built with a Lincoln 135 and Flux core, including the cage project I'm doing right now. If you take your time, prep well, you will have no issues

And.... you can call me a bottom dweller, but I prefer my HF flux welder to my Hobart Handler. I replaced the ground clamp, and use Lincoln wire, now it feels very comfortable for me. I guess everyone has their preferences.

I'm a newbie to welding but my hf 180/220 with fc has done it all so far. It's all in the ground! Best $200 tool ever

Odd, my last two smog checks I had to retard timing to stock. Hmm
Yeah I believe you, not everyone does the inspection like they should.... You run advanced timing with the S/C?

Last night was the first real storm cell of the year to round these parts bring an end to the drought in spectacular fashion. Around 3" of rain fell and from what I can tell, A significant portion of it found its way into my rear inner arches. The evidence would point to the rear side lights so I smeared a little silicon on them and also did the slidey thing just below the rear windows. Hopefully that will solve the problems for now.

Well this sucks. More rain today..jumped in truck after work and the sloshing of water was ridiculous. Now I need to figure out where it is and how it gets there before we get more rain.:crybaby:

Seal the bottom of the rear sliding windows, if you haven't done so.
Below the rear side lights there is a hole (sometimes, in some trucks), between the bumper and the fender. Maybe that needs to be sealed too.

This is normal right? took off rock guard and........

My wife caught me using the dish washer for a very similar purpose. I was stripping the heads of a Range Rover P38 and for the most part everything (including 2 heads) went in the dishwasher with about 6 tablets. Cleaned them up beautiful but I nearly got throttled by the wife when she realised...

Ill tell ya, the dishwasher was looking pretty good, but its clean and painted up already. LOL

Glad you're alive! How many 80s have you wrecked now? Is this the third one?

Hopefully he doesn't wreck the 60 next!
Bessie was a 60 with emphasis on was. I'm amazed that he not only survived inside that pile of ruble but sustained no major injuries either.
