Got photobombed by my 80.

Fixed my auto AC problem. Again. I remounted the control box so it doesn't fill up with water any more.
:bang:
Radio randomly quit today. Probably related. It's been raining like a mofo here lately.

Not flooding here. Yet.

Received the Gamiviti seat gears and replaced the old worn out one. Works as designed.

Upgraded my battery and cable situation. Group 27 AGM battery (185 minute reserve), and 1 gauge cable with compression lugs.

All buttoned up. I decided not to use the military terminals, since this battery has a through hole in it's posts.

I need to get some terminals for the body ground. What is pictured is only temporary. Also, not pictured, I pulled the old positive cable out of it's original loom, and reused it on the new cable.

Got my rig back from the shop on Friday. I had new rotors and pads installed on all 4 corners. Also had the exhaust system reattached to the chassis as all the rubber hangers were long gone and my truck rattled liked a bucket of bolts. Brakes feel great, no more wobbles or vibrations and it's nice and (sorta) quiet again. Ready for some dirt in Mexico next weekend.

It doesn't completely solve the problem, but it makes it far more convenient. More likely to go on the next trip. And the next one.

Dude! I was out of town for 4 3 days, I would have said something earlier, if I had the chance.
You need to go back and take that picture again. You just failed big time. How can you possibly cut off the top part of that picture?
Where did you learn to take pictures? Facebook?

First, I must confess that this didn't happen THIS weekend, but rather the week between Christmas and New Years. My fiance and I decided that we'd like to avoid crowds (aaaaaand maybe some family) this holiday season, so we packed up and hit the road. Tested out a temporary sleeping platform solution for the 80 and some new camping gear. Basic summary:

Did some driving, and some more driving. Followed some iffy roads:

Kept driving into the sunset, woke up, did some more driving. Found ourselves here:

Drove on this thing:

Saw a bunch of this type of stuff:

Thought I'd need a change of pants after this:

Definitely needed a change of pants after this:

Did some more driving, and a lot more driving. Found this warehouse full of interesting wonders. Got to speak with the old guy they keep locked up in there. Turns out he's alright.

In all of White Rim Road, we were the first to break all the ice on the puddles- essentially had the whole place to ourselves. We encountered three vehicles the whole time, two of which had neither a CB or ham, one of which only had a CB but didn't think to switch it on. The 80 did fantastic and left nothing to desire. Sleeping inside was surprisingly spacious. Not sure if we were mentally prepared for the 15 degree temps and scraping ice off the inside of the windows, but it was a blast. Just watch out for ice on the switchbacks...

Have any photos of your sleeping solution in the 80?

Which did you want to see more of? My 13 year-old daughter, my 17 year-old son, or the Lexus? Think carefully before you answer, drunk posting is not an excuse.

The only thing I noticed was that peeing on your trailer hitch causes serious rust!

Two other things of note:
1) I've met @MDarius he's not small
2) Pretty sure @Dragos80 is either a) always drunk or b) the lack of oxygen in LA is killing brain cells...

Preface: All of this wood was free, so I used what was available. It's a temp fix, hoping to build something with real drawers and functional storage soon. Not anything I'd put on the resume, but it works ok.

It's a 9.5" tall floor I-Joist with 3/4" OSB sheet glued and screwed together. There's a vertical piece toward the back of the second row for lateral stability. The platform is quite solid, but the rubbermaid storage is far from an efficient use of space. They slide nicely and make it easy to store at home, but as mentioned, lots of wasted space.

A scrap piece of 2x4 material placed under the second row is sufficient to get them level enough for a flat sleeping surface.

Here is a shot of mine. It is a piece of marine plywood that is attached by hinges to my drawer system. It simply folds back over the folded down seats and then back onto the drawer system and latched in place when not in use. A double bed matress will fit perfectly. I am 5'10" and my with the front seats moved forward and my pillow up against the front seat back, my toes don't touch the tailgate. It is extremely comfortable, even when it is super cold outside. Just make sure you have the right sleeping bag for the temperature you'll be sleeping in.
