I thought you lived in California. We all know it doesn't rain in California.
1100 pounds of gravel was about 1/3 enough. Need about three more yards. Two inches of rain so far today.

Preface: All of this wood was free, so I used what was available. It's a temp fix, hoping to build something with real drawers and functional storage soon. Not anything I'd put on the resume, but it works ok.

It's a 9.5" tall floor I-Joist with 3/4" OSB sheet glued and screwed together. There's a vertical piece toward the back of the second row for lateral stability. The platform is quite solid, but the rubbermaid storage is far from an efficient use of space. They slide nicely and make it easy to store at home, but as mentioned, lots of wasted space.

A scrap piece of 2x4 material placed under the second row is sufficient to get them level enough for a flat sleeping surface.

I like the floor joist idea. Strong and relatively lightweight.

I also prefer to use Rubbermaid totes because you can move them around easy and take out what is not needed to be carried around all of the time.

I used 2x4s and 3/4 birchply for my sleep platform. My son and I just spent 10 days sleeping on it. An air mattress would've made it even more comfortable. But we've probably slept 40-50 nights on it this past year.

Picked up some Yakima raingutter cross bars on Craigslist today, scored them for just $80! Dude said he used them on his Jeep but when I got there I saw no Jeep.. apparently he sold it and got a Tundra ! Super nice guy.

Changed the Leading Arm Bushings "the holes Horizontally" ! Filled up the Long Ranger Tank, marinated the quail, camel meat burgers, cold beers and headed South to the Red Sea Mountains, destination : The old Roman Granodiorite Quarry, Mons Claudianus (1st to Mid 3rd Century AD).

3. 2nd Camp, Mons Claudianus, the fort housed an estimated 1000 quarrymen and guards.

4. Roman technique for quarrying the stone. I guess they wedged wooden pieces into the notches, soaked them with water and the wood did the rest.

5. and a nice surprise off the highway on the way back to reality :)

@TheRareElement keep it coming. Its nice to see some pics of camping and exploring on other continents.

Also, if you search on the 80 forum there is a thread titled "where has your 80 taken you". It would be awesome to have some of your adventures in that thread.

The only thing I noticed was that peeing on your trailer hitch causes serious rust!

Two other things of note:
1) I've met @MDarius he's not small
2) Pretty sure @Dragos80 is either a) always drunk or b) the lack of oxygen in LA is killing brain cells...

You can tell by the 2 people in the photo they're not of a small stature family, look at those feet!

Got to drive the Cruiser in the snow for the first time. What a blast! Saturday night there was a civic afraid to go around the plows on the right (plenty of room, no risk, just scared) and they were holding up traffic. So I just went around the little car. So far the Falkens are performing flawlessly in every situation I've been in. Really great in the snow.

Supposedly the temp is going to climb to 60 on Thursday, which means the snow will melt. That's what I hate about NJ and this area in general. We get freezing temps and lots of snow, then 3 days later it will rain or the temp will go up and it's gone again. No fun to be had.

Got stuck trying to turn around. I forgot that a creek ran over this section of trail(Pickle Gulch) and Under the snow was inches thick ice. Thankfully my buddy was with me to help with the rigging/winching. Got her out in about an hours time...

I did 'break' the HiLift though. I had to push the locking pin in each time for it to ratchet properly...Sure was a pucker moment when the tension broke free and the jack fell to the snow.

Oh! and as we were airing down at trail head a newer stock 4runner on street tires got themselves stuck trying to go snowshoeing. They were hopelessly trying to get out for a few minutes, so I offered to give them a tow out. Moment's later they were free..Although the guy started to drive forward once free'd trying to tow me as I was about to get out and unhook the trucks...idk wtf he was doing/thinking.

While the family was doing the snow vacation in the 4Runner I had my mechanic check the ignition system with an oscilloscope. Incomplete combustion on the #4 cylinder. I'm guessing this is the cause for the code 25.

I do not want to believe the injector is the cause hoping that the local company that cleaned and tested them did it right.

I tested the injector wiring harness at the ECU. I get +12V across all injectors so I assume it isn't a wiring problem. I finally pulled the stethoscope out. I get the normal sharp click-click-click on injectors 1,2,3,5 and 6 and just a dull resonance on 4.

My best guess is it is either a bad injector or the ecu. I can swap in an ecu to easily rule that out. Then I guess I pull the intake again.

Ih8sno! I've been stuck in the snow on the mountain. It makes for a long day when wheeling alone. Question about your picture. That looks like it's about the most difficult way to get unstuck you could have come up with. I know, pictures don't show the whole story, that's why I'm asking. Why did you go for a lateral pull with a hi-lift instead of pulling it backwards or forwards? I'm sure there are about 10 other ways people will say you could have gotten free. In mine, after a few hours of desperation, I put fence rails under the tires and used them like maxtraxx until I was out. Obviously you didn't have a fence. Without being there it's easy to comment from the popcorn section. Just trying to learn from others experience. Thanks.

We don't have snow in our part of the planet and I was wondering if the "sand mats" we use can be also used as "snow Mats" ?
Glad you made it out.

So what happened was I slid off the main trail whilst trying to turn around and went into sort of a ditch with large trees a few feet directly behind me. If I pulled from the front it would have pulled me further off of the trail plus I didn't have any suitable anchor points infront of me. Which left me with a lateral pull. So scrapping the idea of turning around to head back down the trail we figured that once we got the DS rear quarter clear of the trees behind us that I should be able to back straight out and back on the trail, which is why we pulled from the rear. As you can see the hilift is maxed out. So just after this pic I lugged the chain up the steep hill to another suitable tree and only had to adjust the chain length once more before I was clear of the trees.

The rear Lat pull worked like a charm and I basically idled back onto the trail in 4L. Although I had to reverse about a mile back to the trail head because I wasn't trying to turn around again ha. Honeslty, once we removed a bunch of the built up snow from the DS-Rear tire, she slid across the ice pretty easily(this was after I broke the jack).

One thing to note is that we also hooked the chain directly up to the strap when I tried to drive back onto the trail...So I wouldn't undo the work of 'winching' it out, just in case ya know.

Thanks. Id assume the sand mats are pretty similar to what @MDarius mentioned (Maxxtraxx). I'm not sure they would have dug into the ice enough for me to get enough traction on in order to crawl out..Plus, I don't own any. Maybe one day I will lol. I carry/own pretty much just enough to get myself unstuck. And the HiLift seems to have worked a lot better than the comealong that I grew up using to help my dad get unstuck when venturing out to hard to reach fishing spots.

Thanks mate, they are Eplison Elite Max. I imported them myself from Japan. They measure 16 x 10 -38

Aloha Jen, you are amazing!

Today I Removed the OEM Option Dust Deflector, and finally installed the JDM Wing.

I also removed the LED tail lights, as that is what was stopping the factory Cruise Control working! Gone back to OEM, which aint that bad!

What was the symptoms you were experiencing with your cruise control. I have the same issue, I engage the CC but when I use the blinker to change lanes it disengages the CC. I also have LED tailights.

Spend the few weeks before Xmas getting a few of the several outstanding issues with the truck sorted out before the lady and I left Seattle for a few days in and around Banff in the Canadian Rockies. New exhaust piping from the muffler back, new LED lights in the cab, addressed a water leak into the rear drivers side quarter panel., and I finally built a new lid for the drawers.

Does anyone know what this harness is for? Photo is of the rear passenger cargo area.View attachment 1375625

If thats on the DS, then its for the subtank ECU that is mounted in that area.

Yes he is. He has the first set done. Mine. Thanks for reminding me. I need to pay him. Been on vacation and forgot all about them.

No worries I figured you were in trip mode. Hit me up when you get back home!

Not the weekend!! But just wrapped up a 3500 miles roundtrip down to FL. 80 didnt skip a beat. The KO2's killed it in the snow. Now to give her a bath. Man does it hurt to see all this salt.. First time in the Snow...
