Installed the grill this morning before I left for work. Turned out pretty good. Need to clean up the overspray on the white lettering with an eraser but from 10 feet she's looks good.

May wet sand the hood tonight and respray it to even it out.

And going to spray the front bumper.

Going to deflare eventually. Do I need to seal the holes up right away? Do they go in to anywhere I wouldn't want water? I've got a broken flare that is begging to be ripped off...

I was wondering the same thing all the way through last winter. There are holes at the bottom on the inside of the door. Everything was fine for me just hope yours aren't clogged.

Top two holes in rear flare arch go inside rear quarter panel so water will enter those cavities. Should have drains but i taped over the holes temporarily to keep from soaking the inside seams and jack/tools stored there.

Also the ones into the door had me concerned. Taped the bottom ones and left the upper riveted bracket untill it sliced me one too many times and prompted getting my plugs from your employer

While it's not ideal, I ran my LX for 6 months without cladding and flares with open holes. I recently removed my interior door panels and while there was some dirt in there, no rust. Besides, rain is always running down your windows and into the doors anyway, that's why there's drain holes in the doors and side panels.

Thanks. I figured they had to be able to drain somewhere. My door drains are all good. It is one of the first things I checked after getting my 93.

I'll probably just pull them and plug the holes for now. Has to look less sh!tty than it does now.

@jfz80 do you remember which size plugs you used?

@LS1FJ40 there are different sized holes on different cruisers i have found. Generally 2 sizes of plugs are used. 4 small ones on doors for rivet holes. Rest are large plugs and some need to be trimmed to fit smaller holes, others needed rtv to remain stationary in long holes.

Ive posted the dorman part number in this thread or my rotw...... ill see if i can find

Thanks! Can I just grab them and rip or do I have to be ginger with them? I kinda want to just rip them off! :hillbilly:

You can..... but the top two holes are studded from flare side. Pop open rear quarter panels and remove 10mm nut. The door portions unbolt as well.

I think the back of front flares is bolted to rocker with odd spacer nut contraption as well.

Ripping off works but may pucker some metal around holes and is easiest performed with help of a large tree or rock on the side of the trail.

plugs were from lowes home improvement. Hillman #881199 variable depth push fastener GM $.80 per pair

Got the 4X4Labs basic kit with no swingout. Did the single swingout because I want to mount the tire in the middle. Going to see how it works out. If I dont like it I can always swap a single for dual. Need to find a spot for hammock mount.
