Not all done "this weekend", but my last couple of weeks have been quite busy. In the past two weeks I did:
- Pesky Heater Hose (true to its name)
- Had both diffs rebuilt and regeared to Nitro 4.88s
- Rebuilt both axles, with new OEM seals
- Replaced front brake calipers
- Upgraded all brake lines to Slee SS lines (axle to caliper; frame to axle done earlier)
- Rebuilt front drive shaft (new OEM joints)

Sorry for the delay. I hope to have more traction in the next few weeks!
Nice work! Who did the differential gears and how much, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm halfway through a front axle rebuild to fix a bunch of crap that got screwed up when I was having my new gears done. It's a long story..... but so far, it's included a busted wheel speed sensor, broken abs sensor, improper preload on wheel bearings, knuckles almost void of any grease, damaged front driveshaft, camber way off. Hoping to not find too much more while I finish it up.
Was awesome meeting you and Matt up on the mountain! Your rigs are inspiring and the quality of your photos has me ready to upgrade my camera.![]()
OH man! Have fun. Great place. I won't be there, but my 80 will.Changed the engine oil and gear oil. Getting her ready for an 11hr drive to Cruisin' the Woods in Oregon this weekend.

After the oil change, I cleaned the interior, vacuumed the carpet. Still had some dirt from the Gold Lake camping trip.

Look for @ThreeEyedBandit in my 80, @knoll0351 in his red diesel samari and @CreeperSleeperBummer.
We're excited! Taking the 60-80-100!
Who's driving your 80 there?
I agree which is why I do almost all the work myself with few exceptions. Setting up gears is not a job I'm 100% comfortable with on my own, even though I helped do the setup on my FJ40 and my mini truck. I guess this just motivates me to get comfortable doing gears too. That's a bummer. Another really good reason to do as much of the work yourself. As much as I trust the shop that setup the gears in the diffs, I am really anal about preload, grease quality, torque specs, etc. The only way I could know it was done to my standards is if I did it myself.
That and the more I do the heavy lifting on the 80 the better I know my vehicle. The better I know it, the more likely I can diagnose and treat problems as they arise.
Couple of weeks back now, polished it up for a local car show. 6 hours of washing and buffing later but I got a trophy for best 4wd even with all the scratches
Last weekend it dumped 60mm of rain on us in 12 hours, all waterways were running, so went out for a sunday drive and proceeded to somehow land in the softest slop imaginable. Bogged it to the door, lockers just kept digging a bigger holeAll part of the fun though, made sure I hit a few more creeks to wash the worst of the mud off after
