View attachment 1324116 View attachment 1324117 So yesterday Jose and I made a "easy" run up Blackwoods Canyon and Ellis Peak with our families. The objective was to get into the fresh fall air and see if any of the trees had started to change color around Lake Tahoe. We started at the Kaspian Campgrounds just off the lake and headed up Blackwoods Canyon. While this trail was not "hard" it was allot of fun and had a few challenging spots and great views of the lake.

Once we reached Barker Pass at the top of the canyon we ran into Baldilocks who was on his way out after camping for the weekend with his wife. After some quick "shop talk" we were on our way down and past bear lake and over to Ellis Peak. A short time later we were at the end of the trail (some went further then others....) and we made a quick hike to the top and then enjoyed lunch in the shade with an amazing view of Lake Tahoe.

An awesome day was had by all and reminded me that the trail doesn't always have to be "challenging" to be allot of fun.

Here's my contribution. I've been slacking on the photo-taking lately. Great trip, incredible views of Lake Tahoe.

Was awesome meeting you and Matt up on the mountain! Your rigs are inspiring and the quality of your photos has me ready to upgrade my camera. :)

Started assembling my PrInSu roof rack. I'll mount it to the Landcruiser on Friday. Can't wait to get a roof top tent for this thing!

How much does that bad boy weigh?

... AND noticed a little weeping from the lower radiator hose. :crybaby:

I was sooooooooo close to being (momentarily) done with maintenance.

I got a lot of work done on my Turtleback trailer this weekend so I thought I would replace that lower rad hose "real quick" yesterday. By the time I figured out there were TWO hose clamps on the radiator outlet I managed to manhandle it from a small leak (a 3" stain after sitting overnight) to a pencil-sized stream. At least I now know the leak is from the radiator, not the hose.

I sent a couple panicked emails to @beno last night and early this morning. He called me back around 8 am and will have a radiator at my house tonight. What a huge asset to this community he is!!

Shipping weight was 65 lbs, IIRC. I was able to install it fully assembled, with no help.
I'd be shocked if it's over 50lbs. It's one of the things I like most about it, SO light and strong. I'm not a big dude and it's a piece of cake to move it around on my own fully assembled.
That's great the less weight on top the better. It's there an other aluminum rack manufacturers out there to compair or is this it for aluminum racks?

^

There may be other AL racks out there, but your likely going to have a very hard time finding one as nice, low pro and well thought out as the Prinsu. Mine is still sitting in the garage awaiting assembly but that should be remedied this up coming weekend

Not all done "this weekend", but my last couple of weeks have been quite busy. In the past two weeks I did:
  • Pesky Heater Hose (true to its name)
  • Had both diffs rebuilt and regeared to Nitro 4.88s
  • Rebuilt both axles, with new OEM seals
  • Replaced front brake calipers
  • Upgraded all brake lines to Slee SS lines (axle to caliper; frame to axle done earlier)
  • Rebuilt front drive shaft (new OEM joints)

I have had numerous offers for my axles. The youngsters building mini's love 80 axles for the upgrade without out the price tag and width of tons.

Hey! Those are supposed to be mine! Don't be selling my axles...

I've given you beer for security dibs... :bang:

I really like what you did with the factory turn signal. It looks like possible the turn signal are now in the bumper face? If that is the case how do the new turn signals compare?

Don't tell me you attempted a night run again?
Attempts are for the faint hearted! A trip with my wife is for the wise me, if there is a wise me! It's amazing how much more unnerving Cadillilac Hill is in the day light.

Parked the new Turbo charged unicorn 80 in the featured vehicle spot in my yard:hillbilly:

More on this!!!

Finally got the front and second row vinyl installed! It was time consuming but worth it. I really like how it turned out. I will do some more finish trimming to take out creases once it relaxes a little when warmed up. As always @reevesci aka Jason aka Trail Tailor had awesome customer service/support to help me out along the way.

Added bonus my 93 has a "new car smell" instead of "dead hooker/raccoon orgy" smell.

I was really hoping to do my cloth manual seats at the same time but they aren't ready yet. The leather power seats suck!

Didn't put the second row seats in as I'm going to wait until I get my cloth from Land Cruiser Heaven. Plus I like not having the second row seats.

Sorry for the delay. I hope to have more traction in the next few weeks!

Changed the engine oil and gear oil. Getting her ready for an 11hr drive to Cruisin' the Woods in Oregon this weekend. :bounce2::bounce::cool:

My little helper is supposed to be helping, not making more mess!

After the oil change, I cleaned the interior, vacuumed the carpet. Still had some dirt from the Gold Lake camping trip. :(

I need a saw zall and cut my garage door and make it taller! Or a bigger drive way!

Broke & then fixed my driver side window. Had been coming up crooked for a couple weeks,......then completely came out of the track....

Took off the metal that the window resides in. Just two 10mm bolts. Took out the window, put rubber channel on, sprayed with WD40 & rubber hammered it back on. Then put all back together. Was 104° perfect weather to do a lil wrenching, & bbq some piggy.

Thanks Phil,

Not sure if you mean mine or Jose 80 as we both have small LED's in the face of our 4X4 Labs bumpers... I won't lie, I stole the idea from Jose...

However, Jose has Amber and uses them as his turn signal...

Mine are pure white and run as a DRL under my Hella DRL that I modded into the old turn signal years back.... I run the front parking corner lights as a turn / parking light/ LED strobe.

The real question that needs to be answered is where did this unicorn come from.... Only a few places I can guess.... And I hope it didn't come from a "clown" in Upstate NY....?
