Forgot to mention during my little trip to big bear the king steering damper performed distinctively better the the OME damper I had on, I went through basically the same trails for a more apple to Apple comparison.

on bumpy fire road the steering wheel should wiggle when using OME but no wiggle at all with king's damper, feels like I'm driving a car on bumpy road.

On gold mountain which is a more challenging trails where the steeing wheel would turn up to a quarter turns due to bumps with OME but with King's damper it's just 5-15 degree wiggle.

Overall king's steering damper make the steering very tight and more car like even through the rough, very comfortable and smoooooth.

Damn it. Now, I'll have to get one! Thanks for the review.

A little trail damage. Not happy. Taking it to the body shop to see what they can do and how much. View attachment 1306468

That doesn't look too bad. Remove the interior plastic panels around the factory subwoofer, then take a hammer and most of that dent will pound out. Use a small piece of 2x4 on the outside to hit against. Then remove the remaining 3 1/2 flares, patch the holes, monstaliner where the flares used to be and call it a day. Small piece of black gorilla tape will nicely cover the broken taillight piece until you can find a reasonably priced junkyard replacement.

I've been hunting a popping noise for a month and have still not found it. Feels like a snap under my left foot.
I made a few memes for the occasion........

The last pic does not look like it will buff out:(

Actually it was not as bad as what the picture shows. The slider took most of the impact but a section of that rock did manage to contact the body, resulting in a small dent to the rear part of the front fender in an area already covered by monstaliner. I can pull the dent with a slide hammer, then patch the hole and reapply monstaliner.

Hopefully you can blame it on someone else ;)

Be somewhat glad is the passengers side. The piece of molding that covers the rear clearance light on the drivers side is not long available anywhere in the world new.

I'm sure it was @jwilliams "buddy" that did it...

Great group/weather/food. Couldn't ask for a better trip. However, it doesn't get any easier the second time around!

I was chasing a popping noise/feeling under my left foot when I would hit bumps on my rig. Ended up being sway bar bushings

Have to date ruled out...

Torque settings have been checked on all bolts/nuts that are suspension related
Body mounts
Rear lower control arms/bushings
Front control arm bushings/torque
Shocks
Sliders
Motor mounts
Sway bars/bushings
Tie Rod/ends/bushings
steering bracket
Steering stabilizer
Front and rear aftermarket bumpers

I am now looking at the panhard bushings (front and rear) and maybe springs (only 3 year old Slee springs) so I have my doubts about the springs. Panhard bushings are the Slee gen one yellow plastic....and from what I have seen so far show a little wear.

Seems the bushing has moved from its original position. See the shiny new yellow?

Hit up big bear with couple of big net buddies of mine. Let them drive the 80 on gold mountain because I need to spot them. Fantastic day but my buddy backed the 80 into a tree so I have my first trail body damage.

Funny -- Same thing happened to me on Gold Mountain a few years back. Except he backed into the tree using the rear window :hillbilly:

@9780LC check your frame side front contol arm bolts. They are technically a one time use item but a couple members had some popping when these weren't torqued to spec. Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion. These have been ruled out too. I forgot to put them in my list. It's been corrected.
The front control arm bushings are new (1 year old) and are torqued to spec.

Ok so this morning I woke up to this... Some tourist in the hotel tossing his beer cans over a wall and onto my hood! Thanks for visiting and trashing my home and cruiser! I was so pissed. The can was still 1/4 full too. Who wastes beer like that!?

Next I did a knuckle rebuild for a friend... A 1996 with 445k on the clock! Nice.

Such a waste of beer. Did you finish the rest?

Also, are you looking for some more friends?
