What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (40 Viewers)

That doesn't look too bad. Remove the interior plastic panels around the factory subwoofer, then take a hammer and most of that dent will pound out. Use a small piece of 2x4 on the outside to hit against. Then remove the remaining 3 1/2 flares, patch the holes, monstaliner where the flares used to be and call it a day. Small piece of black gorilla tape will nicely cover the broken taillight piece until you can find a reasonably priced junkyard replacement.
I ordered some tail lights from eBay already. I actually like the flares, so that will go back. The body damage on that corner is what I am concerned about. Not sure that can be hammered out or if I need a new panel.

Seeing damage to a white CE cruiser (unicorn) is tough to stomach.

I didn't do as much with the 80 as I hoped. I did finally get everything out of the inside from the road trip and got the majority of a week plus 3000 miles of crud cleaned off the outside.
Took a family photo since they were all just sitting there looking nice.

Started a PS pump job, had to take everything out since the high pressure hose was fused to the pump, and with so little space to work with my big hands i could not undo anything.

I'm still unsure if i'll change the high pressure hose, looks pretty good to me.

Some serious competition for new desktop photos this week.

:hhmm:

Have to date ruled out...

Torque settings have been checked on all bolts/nuts that are suspension related
Body mounts
Rear lower control arms/bushings
Front control arm bushings/torque
Shocks
Sliders
Motor mounts
Sway bars/bushings
Tie Rod/ends/bushings
steering bracket
Steering stabilizer
Front and rear aftermarket bumpers

I am now looking at the panhard bushings (front and rear) and maybe springs (only 3 year old Slee springs) so I have my doubts about the springs. Panhard bushings are the Slee gen one yellow plastic....and from what I have seen so far show a little wear.

Seems the bushing has moved from its original position. See the shiny new yellow?

I just remembered my buddy's 80 had a weird pop thud he felt in his feet when driving, I think he ended up finding an issue with the steering shaft going through the firewall. Like the rubber was worn out and the shaft would move to much and hit the firewall on bumps, might be worth a quick check.

I painted my hood and roof again because I suck at painting and it looked only slightly less crappy that the peeling, oxidized paint.

It looks about the same. But I also scraped and wet sanded the Windows so there isn't overspray on them and they are nice and clean.

I also sprayed all of the trim around the doors. That actually looks half way decent.

Tried out our new high-tech sleeping platform. Remove back seat, install couch cushions.

THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL POST!! So don't get your panties in a bunch and delete it.

Finally cleaned up the PO's peeling stickers on the bumper. Hit them with the flap disk and sprayed down the bumper.

I didn't really care about them being on there but a customer made a comment about them so I figured I probably should get rid of them.

Went with some friends/co-workers up Red cone and Webster pass. They all drive j**ps and kept commenting that I was just going along like it was nothing. It was a great day to be up in the mountains

Red Cone is an A+ for scenery. On one of the really steep downhill sections I almost ran into a goat because I was so focused on keeping the truck pointed straight :o

Hey those couch cushions go around the wheel wells just right! Do you have enough for both sides? :)

Yeah, that first downhill is really steep and it will definatley make you a little nervous with all that loose rock beneath you. Here's some more shots from today.

No, but the thrift store might. :hillbilly: I'm actually pretty happy with my backpacking air mattress, but the boss wanted cushier accommodations

Went to the Feather River (Whiskey Flats) to cool off.

Although my seal is 50% blown out and the steering shaft is not centered, I don't think this is the problem I am trying to fix. The click/snap that I am feeling/experiencing can be heard from over 30 feet away. I can't feel the problem in the steering wheel either. It literally feels like someone is snapping a big rubber band right under my left foot. The noise usually only happens when there is torque on the suspension....body roll. The noise is mostly happening right before the recovery (straightening the wheel back up) from turning right going uphill. That's the best description I can give. Thanks for the reply. I will make sure this is not the problem tomorrow.

Reading about this elsewhere is the first time I'm nervous about having removed my LSPV. Huh.

I got rid of my ABS and LSPV awhile ago. I have not yet had any problems with the tires locking up on me on the trail or anywhere else so far.
